Are all Taigen / Imex tanks so fragile/ unreliable?

Post by Markocaster »

I bought a tiger 1 early full metal ( mostly)
The gears went after 10 minutes, the seller replaced them.
Got it back and ran for 5-10 minutes and one of the road wheel suspension arms broke. Ordered a set of replacements and they look completely different!
Seriously I am new to this but are all taigen tanks so unreliable, or are my expectations too high?

I just want a tank that works for more than 10 minutes, I bought it April 1 and have actually had possession of it about a week or two between sending back and forth. Was told via email I would get a new tank and got the same one back , fixed?...and it ran for a total of 10 minutes the whole time, I bought parts to fix it after it broke the second time and got the wrong parts, so I feel a full refund of just the tank, not the extra parts is fair? I will try again to get a reliable tank, not sold on Taigen, or at least not the metal ones!
I think I will either spring for a tamiya kit or even a cheap heng long?
I emailed Erik at Taigen also and will see what he says. I hate being he crappy , grumpy customer, I work in retail , but I just want a tank that runs!

I think you've been unlucky. My 9kg metal strum tiger (on a taigen chassis) was crashing through the undergrowth at the back of our club happy as larry! Still if they've said you should get a replacement and they've not then that's wrong. Sorry to hear about your troubles!

Yea I think unlucky sums it up well. Hopefully that will change and I will find the right bits to get it running

Good Evening,
Markocaster, I agree with Tom, I think you may have gotten a bum tank ( An end of day Friday build ). I hope that your lemon is replaced with Lemonade here very soon.
regards,
Painless

Hi Markocaster,

I have 3 Taigens including a tiger and a Pzr III with the metal lower chassis', and I have found them all to be very reliable and sturdy.

Is this the same tank that originally turned up with the cracked hull? If so I still wonder if it suffered some sort of impact during manufacture or delivery.

I hope you get it replaced.

Yes Sir. One and the same. I just emailed Erik from Taigan he replied in the other forum and am in conversation with the seller. I hope this will be sorted. I love the tank except that is won't work :S
So I hope either for a replacement or at least parts and instructions to fix it.
Either way. Fingers crossed :)
