decisions, decisions.. Any advice appreciated.

Post by Marky Voodoo »

Evening guys.

So ive had a busy old month at work, but have battered the overtime and managed to scrape together enough to treat myself to another HL Tank.

Although i want to upgrade my Sherman i also want to add another bit of Armor to my shelf! Lol!

Ive got a budget of £110, and had my sights set on a Jagdpanther, but have since been looking at the King Tiger (Porsche Turret) .

£110 really is my limit guys but cant make up my mind. :-\..

Does anyone have any opinions on either of these models?

Much appreciated as always.

Cheers.

Mark.

Another possibility could be to save another month and get a second hand tamiya off eBay? A full option tiger went for £130 last month so bargains are still there.

King tiger all the way! I love mine. It was the first tank I bought for my "fleet" and still my favorite because, of the rich history, amazing engineering and total domination this super-tank brought every where the Germans managed to deploy it. I bought a book on it the authors researched in depth, they said they were unable to find a single example where the king tigers frontal armor was ever penetrated by ANY anti tank weapon!

The interior hull also a tiny bit more roomy then the other HL tanks. There is also just as many mod parts for it as all the others now.

There may not be room left in your budget but the one single mod I strongly recommend is the Heng Long 2.4 ghz radio system. It is cheaper (about $80 US) then the taigen one and very easy to install. SPARE transmitters and boards are available if you ever need them and not too expensive. And the system works great.

If you opt to go with the aforementioned radio system you could save a few dollars/pounds, Maybe a lot, on the initial purchase and get the cheaper air soft KT. It cones with that horrible tk01 board but it doesn't matter since you would be tearing it out anyway. That way the only extras you'd need buy, except the new radio system, is a cable set. ( Uses the exact same cable set as the RX18)

Thanks for all your input folks. Really appreciate it.
Been sat on the PC most the night umming and Arring and have gone for a HL Jagdpanther, Just the standard S&S version. (sorry to disappoint)
Got the bug bad again for this hobby, and no doubt a king Tiger and Panzer will be sat on the shelf sometime this year too! ;)

cheers.

Not a bad choice I was thinking of getting a jagdpanther or a panther G myself.

As it happens I was looking on hobbyraw.com and they have a king tiger with 2.4 ghz radio included. The price Came out to 140 pounds cost ($225) including shipping.
