Heng Long transmitter/controller new version

Post by johnd »

Hi one and all,

Does anyone know what the difference is with the new transmitters on which the trim sliders do not move?
Any help will be appreciated.

old used FM radio and the new uses 2.4ghz radio signal. Think everything else is same.

But does it automatically control the trim, compared to the previous ones where you used the sliders to keep the tank running straight?

From memory (last year!) still uses the slider trims.

It does do something... the 2.4 gig rigs are by far an improvement over the crystal units... they don't have the trims because everything is pretty much taken care of... not sure how they will do in the future...but the present generation of rigs ..I would say operate perfectly... My two T34s and my one Sherman so far... run straight as an arrow for about 20 ft before needing a slight twitch on the stick...this is on a sidewalk ... so I attribute the deviation to the bumps and uneven grade ;)

Bought a Tiger 1 and a Panzer III over the last 3 months and both had these newer transmitters.
Also bought a replacement transmitter recently, which was the same, so it looks like HL have changed to this new type.
The tanks do seem to run straight, just wondering if they include some sort of auto trim control.
Would love to change to 2.4 gig but with the good old cash constraints it's just a dream at the moment.

If it's the crystal version...even the new ones need the trim...one of my Shermans came with a transmitter that had the trims locked... it didn't work well... I immediately tossed that out and got out an old spare... now it runs perfect
I suspect Heng Long has converted the mold... since their 2.4s work so well without them
I wouldn't know if they installed an auto trim... It's possible... I got my Sherman in Dec of last year... so it might have been the first gen of the no trim models.. but it really didn't work...for me anyway ;)

Yes, that sounds like HL, cut production costs while downgrading performance.
I haven't run mine outdoors yet, so maybe that's why they're running straight.
I'll have to save hard for the 2.4 gig conversion.
Thanks for your advice and help, much appreciated

The good thing is...the 2.4 rigs are and easy swap... and really once you have one handset and binding button...all you need is the 2.4 Rx...the rigs are pretty cheap ...anywhere from 60 to 80 us... for the entire set up... the rx alone...25 to 30...for you it isn't too bad of a jump... as I want to do all of my tanks now... but 16 x 25..well... I could invest in new armor for that lol...will probably end up just doing my really favorite to run tanks to 2.4 and keep the crystal gear just in case ;)
