Help needed, North African mud
Help needed, North African mud
Hey folks I'm really struggling to find decent colour references with muddy vehicles in North Africa. If anyone has any let me know as they will greatly assist me finishing norbert!

Which part of Africa? Tunisia is far more arid scrub than the desert in Libya and Egypt. Some battles happened here: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Matma ... B567%3B368
Mig Beach sand mixed with European dust could work.

Thanks billpe! I'm thinking something lighter than I've used before. I shall give it a go.billpe wrote:Which part of Africa? Tunisia is far more arid scrub than the desert in Libya and Egypt. Some battles happened here: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Matma ... B567%3B368

Looks like that, its a 50/50 mix. Beach sand is well...beach sand in colour and European dust is like a reddish brown.

When I was in Tunisia the soil was like a pinky red when we where quad biking like a terracotta colour in the Sahara desert the sand is like very light yellow powder hope this helps.

Mix AK interactive "Africa dust effects" with plaster of paris for thickness and airbrush splatter on (dip brush in the mix and blow it on with the airbrush). Add brown to the mix and do a second coat over the first. This will give it the effect of older dry mud and new mud.
