Tiger 1 more work done some more pics

Post by tiger tiger »

Heres one of my tiger 1s, ive added correct headlights, replaced cupola with a correct taigen one with hatch and commanders view slit aligned in correct position. Replaced the bright red tank nos with black n white decals and then painted with TAMIYA flat wash. this was a tip from someone on here after the original ones looked horrible. The wash helped to sink the decals into the zimmerit and flat finish is much better, also flat washed the commander. Also added scratch made ends to turret lifting trunnions again tip provided on here using a stationary hole punch on thin plastic sheet. Superglue a few together glue to trunnion end and paint, here is a couple of pics. Also added some spare track.

Tiger x 2,
That is one clean and sweet looking Tiger. Just by getting rid of the HL 'frog eye' headlight issue, you have taken this tank leaps and bounds ahead of some I have seen that were works of art in paint yet neglectful of this small but important detail. I'm looking forward to your continued work on this tank.

Looking great there tiger tiger.

Decals are always fun to get right on Zim. I use peddinghaus waterside decals and Revel Decalsoft. The decalsoft softens the decals and as they dry they get pulled into the detail on the zim. You can see the results on my late Tiger show off thread. I use the decalsoft on smooth surfaces too as it reduces the risk of silvering.
Don't forget too that the early wheels have rubber tyres on them. For the stock plastic wheels I would use Tamiya XF-85 rubber black. I think it will make quite a difference to the look of this tiger, its another little detail that really pops out at you.

Looking forward to seeing what else you do with this one :D :D

Thanks guys for the pos feedback, the crew are looking out for another tiger which was shot up by a crazed machine gunner from their side who hates factory fresh tiger finishes and likes giving them battle damage lol. They think his name is gefreiter griffin recently transferred from eastern front and pronounced fit after Psyche evaluation, although notes were made on his hair trigger finger and short fuse.

oh yes :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: @) @)

They are scalywags here too Herman. Scalawag is a hang over from the days when I did American Civil War living history. Its a mid ninetieth century derivative meaning pretty much the same thing.
