The side skirts touch the tracks on my king tiger, a fix?

Post by Marc780 »

I have tried gluing all sorts of pieces to the hull to keep the side skirts from touching the treads, on the starboard side of my HL King tiger. The tank still drives alright but slower, and it pulls to the right a little bit. A minor annoyance but i'd like to fix it. I don't want to remove the skirts altogether...is there some fix i can do to move them out 2 or 3 mm so they don't touch the tracks?

Is your upper hull sitting correctly... Stock the tank has plenty of clearance.. don't quite understand why yours is touching

maybe because i eliminated the rear two screw points for holding on the hull? I'm not sure why either. But they touch and it bothers me.

Got any photos ? it would help... as it's hard to determine just from you describing the problem...but it does sound like something you did is causing the misalignment with the two rear mount holes gone... there could be pressure from wires pushing up on one side even when the tank is closed...but really at this point it's hard to diagnose

hmm, looking at the rear of the tank
do the tracks look like there the same distance apart from the hull?

one track could be on "backwards" i guess that is a possibility..I need to check that. Here's a rear view of the right one the one that touches

KT tracks are directional so if you have it install backwards it will definitely rub against the guard.

I feel like i have egg on my face but...looking at the idler, I remember weeks ago i installed some bearing on the idler. And I must have changed the spacing...I am looking at the wrong thing to fix! I need to go back and fix the spacing of the idler from the hull...the fellow who said there should be plenty of clearance is right, its the idler, i put in a spacer that made it too far from the hull, and you can see it in this picture...Thanks everyone.

Hey Marc... Just consider it all part of the Adventure...everyone runs into roadblocks ...and it's always more rewarding once you clear them...for me...it makes me appreciate my tanks more... because they become more personal

Glad to read you got things sorted out..

Good luck
