Price is about right. I picked up a late armortek for £2000 including Motion pack sound pack smoker batteries radio and books, even included the blank firer which i resold for a very good price. There are always a few of these kits taking up space in somebodys shed. Best way to get one.

well, i,d rather spend £1750 on this ..than throw £3.5k +..at a Mark-1 that might look good on the outside..but...the materials used on the insde....well..lets just say..i,ve seen better in an old meccano set....
and as for spending another £2k....i doubt that...yes if you go down the Armortek road...but a lot less if you go elsewhere.....

I have done some work on an armortek / mark 1 hybrid. The mark 1 element was junk. With armotek you get quality and service but the part I find expensive is the electronics packs.

I will agree with you there,Mark-1 ..or should i say the late Alex Shaktar tanks..and Armortek...are like chalk and cheese,..the later GRP tanks that come from Russia ..are a damn sight better than the ones that had the integral gearbox with the "thermo treated cogs"..which were no more thermo treated than flying in the air...the closest they got to being thermo treated was when they were lying next to a hot stove,..and as for the suspension springs..they were a joke,..and the set up for revolving the turret, was another joke..a servo with a rubber O ring on a wheel, pushing against a sharp edge of GRP...Armorteks may be expensive, but..they are quality....unlike........

I tried to remove the Suspension from the Mark 1 as Iwas doing a repaint for a friend. The advice from Mark 1 was use a hammer. Could not remove the wheels or suspension without possible damage.

I will stick with Armortek. There are apparent bargains out there especially the 2003 production Tiger 1s but the current kit prices cannot be associated with these older models as the Armortek Tigers of later production runs had many improvements.

I know where you,re coming from...a friend of mine had an early Mark-1 KT,..and the track links were made of Mazak...which is a lead/zinc alloy...which = crap ..the lugs on the links snapped like matchsticks,..the motors looked like they,d come from an old washing machine, the bottom hull twisted through lack of reinforcement...and the springs on the suspension arms rusted before your eyes...the exhausts pipes were cast resin...and as for the esc,s and sound system....Ha....these were encased in a black plastic covered pod..that contained ..what resembled old computer parts,....and when it went tits up..and it did,....it was non repairable...my mate ended up fitting 2 x Electronize 40amp speed controllers, and a sound system from a Tamiya full option Tiger,..and he had to replace the drive sprockets in order to fit better track....yes..stick with Armortek...

The model above cost £2000 with all options included. It was in a very sorry state. Build was started and some parts caked with dodgy paint. Left in a garage and used ss a dogs toilet. Got it stripped down snd cleaned like a new kit in a weekend. Zimmerit going on at the moment.
