Camo for King Tiger!!

Post by crossfighter »

Hi fellas!

Acquiring a King Tiger from Armortek and haven't made up my mind yet about what camo to paint. Don't want to follow somebody's tank but want to creat my own unique. Any ideas? Can you recommend any sites with different kinds of camo to choose? Any advice is higly appreciated!! Summer or autumn camo is only welcomed!

Hi,

Thinking about the same thing myself. There are a few options here...

Already checked. Poor quality, difficult to determine the real colour!

Surely your just looking at patterns. The actual colours are going to be fairy standard. If you care much about getting the colour right use the RAL numbers which are readily avaliable online....

As a suggestion, check out the KTs in the link and if you see something you like but its not clear do a further google search of check out the Tigers in Focus site for other images of that specific tank, very few were made so its easy to cross check the tactical markings with the unit number and find the vehicle.

Alternatively the Osprey King Tiger book is cheap and has some reference images in it. In general camouflage for them wasn't based on season, but on the units preference, available paint and then white washed in winter. Some of the very last KTs built have very odd camouflage patterns which stray away from the norm so you might be able to combine something from those.

One idea for something really unique and as far as I know was never used on a King Tiger was a disc pattern often seen on smaller tanks. The stencils exist in 1:35 but you might have to make your own in 1:6. http://www.amps-armor.org/ampssite/revi ... 37&Type=FB

Would look pretty awesome in 1:6. I would expect someone has an Armortek Panther done in this style.
