brand new Tiger 1 randomly loses radio signal/goes mad

Post by Marc780 »

It's a non smoke and sound model. No mods to electrical system. The only difference from out of the box is I've temporarily disconnected the antenna from the upper hull to make disassembly easier.

Range makes no difference , battery condition of either makes no difference this tank randomly loses signal and goes off on its own. Sometimes the turret will turn. This can last up to 15 seconds and I often have to chase it.

My king tiger had the same problem. .I blamed the tk01 board, clearly that must not be the case or is it?

Is all this happening because the antenna wire is hanging loose and the external eye poker not screwed on? I plan to install longer internal antenna, I'm just waiting for the wire. Could interference from the motors be a factor? Is the tk01 circuit board that is in it (vs the rx18) a factor either?

Good Morning,
This is two things. Signal interference and a loose antenna wire. You mentioned it going crazy when cars pass by?, ( Apologies if that was someone else ) that's the car's electrical signature and or wireless gadgets soaking into your MHz range. Putting your antenna back together will help.
regards,
Painless

Hello Mark... sorry for the late reply... there are a few things that can cause the "CRAZY" effect on the ABC remote models...two are what Painless already mentioned... more are ...on those models your transmitter antenna should be extended more than half way...fully extended should give you about 20 to 40 ft of control... battery condition does make a difference...if your battery has been used for more than 20 mins... Crazy will happen :haha: ...A more powerful battery adds to your play enjoyment ,,,reason I run Lipos .....antenna connection as painless mentioned...is an integral part of your tank's operation ... re connect it ....One of the last things to remember ... read the instructions :haha: ...on the ABC controllers there is a pre program installed.... the third button on the transmitter will activate it... it's sporadic...but it's there...if you press it accidentally your tank will go Crazy... as it will perform a Demo Operation where all other control is locked out... sometimes that button gets jammed ... could be anything ... a piece of dust... plastic what ever ... if you think it might be that.. open your transmitter and carefully dismantle the button ...what could also have happened is because your antenna wire inside your tank was loose.. it could have cross shorted the circuit...as that end isn't insulated
Any way ...that's all I got in the way of tracking your problem

Hope it helps
