My First Tank.... Taigen or Heng Long

Hi Guys,

Completely new to the RC tank world and i am looking for some advice. I will be getting my first tank in August.

I was looking at both Heng Long and Taigen and any advice for which to choose for the beginner would be appreciated! I like the Heng Long Sherman on the Tankzone website.

And one other question. I have seen tanks on both tankzone and nitrotek and wondered if there were any recommended sites.

Hi James,

Good advice from Cannedheat. Have a look at the vendor blacklist before deciding on where to buy. Some times things look like a great deal because the price is low, however customer service is sometimes more important than cost.

Depending on what you are looking to do with your tank then H/l are a good value choice and make a good basis for a great model, however if you get the upgrade bug then you may find that you end up replacing a lot of the model you buy.
Taigen are a great tank too and usually come with more upgrade features fitted out of the box. Although they are a bit more expensive they can work out better value in the long run.

The only thing I might add ... is if you do decide to go with Heng Long...get the all metal versions...you really do get more for the money... I would say the same about Taigen...Who's new T34 is a beaut.... but they are worlds apart when it comes to price

Just looking for some casual fun and do some up-grading once I am into it so nothing too serious. I will let you know what I end up with!

James welcome to the Forum, Do listen to the advice about the BLACKLIST, too many of us have been ripped off by people who advertise to those who are new to this hobby, they fleece the innocent because they can. Go to the recommended dealers site and trawl the pages and what you will discover is how helpful these good people are, I would suggest you Identify the Tank/s that interest you then go to that particular site on the forum and read up on it/them. James you will have lots of questions, GOOD, we love answering them. Enjoy this Forum but resign yourself to a live of poverty, thank goodness for a caring partner, you are going to need her!. shaun
