Hello All,
I am looking for assistance with my sons rc panzer, he lost one off the screws on the idler wheels so I brought him metal upgrade wheels(and screws) ones on ebay, but whenever he steers the tank the lateral pressure of the tracks pop the outer part of the rear idler wheel off! Is there a way to stop this, also does anyone know off a outlet to get upgrades from, that come with instruction?

Hello tom... this is an interesting situation you have...as it is the usual that the idlers do not need to be separated .. the plastic ones are usually glued together... and the metal ones usually have screws holding the two halves together...but if you have lost the small retaining screws in the back..the best solution is to just super glue the two halves together...as there should be an access screw hole on the outside center of the idler

If I am not mistaken I think even the plastic ones are hold on by two screws. You should be able to glue the two halves together as the idler screw can be access thru the outer opening anyway.

I am reluctant to offer advice about your PZ4 because from the moment you asked for help I can only see an update in suspension , wheels, metal tracks, axle support bearings, rear track adjusters, rollers and then obviously comes the change to 2.4 GHz either Taigen, Clark or perhaps IBU2 and of course metal tools and so it goes on and if you convince yourself that the PZ4 is finished you must then buy something different, about now the Partner in your happy home starts muttering about feeding and clothing the children but of course she does not understand that you really have to have that Torro Tiger 1 after all what's £500? Oh by the way are you sure the gearboxes on that Panzer 4 don't need an upgrade? Of course you do know what MK of PZ4 you are building ? It's very bad form mixing and matching the different versions although when we do it we excuse it by saying it is a PZ4 from the later years of the war when anything goes!!!!! You are quite unwittingly falling headlong into an extra ordinarily deep trap from which neither sanity or cash will ever escape. good luck. shaun

Thanks for advice so far, i think in hindsight it was actually the "front drive" wheel that lost a screw, but I bought an upgrade set of ebay that had metal "front drive wheels" and "rear idler wheels" .
The new set we have has a two part front wheel with a screw holding the inner part onto the hull and four locating pins (one slightly larger than the rest) to align outer part and then it appears the tension of the track holds in on? the rear idler wheel is the same set up but four pins are same size's but unfortunately these ones keep coming off!
I had thought about super glue but was worried about separating parts later to access screw, also I have put cable ties on them to keep them together as a short term fix but the small wheels on the suspension system then start working lose? I think it is possibly the track needs tightening/aligning but not sure if this IS problem or if its possible to do it???
I looked on welsh dragon site and their wheels both seem to have two part wheels plus "hubcaps" to cover fixing screws but on mine the "hub cap/wheel centre" is part of the outer wheel casting

OK... it sounds like you have a set or the stock metal Heng Long Sprockets .... try passing the screw through the outer half of the sprocket...if it has a stop...then just alight the tab on the inner and outer ...then screw it into place ...it should hold together

There is one exception...A friend gave me a set that wasn't well made.... exhibited similar traits to what you describe...thing was on the outer sprocket there was no hole for the screw to go through.... what I did to solve that problem was to align the two sides ..drill a hole in the center ...(from the back side where the hole exists) ..got a longer screw from a hardware store... and screwed it in from the outer sprocket...works fine... but this was on a Panzer III so I don't think it is the same set


So check your outer sprocket ...if a screw can go through it and stop.. your problem is solved

The metal idlers have two screws holding the two together and the plastic ones are glued together make sure the metal idlers screws are screwed proper
