Re: stuck picking need help/advice
Thanks for all the replys going to go with the tiger and also get the charger and the 3300 battery been reading about them on here along with YouTube looks a gr8 tank can't wait now
Re: stuck picking need help/advice
Get the Battery ...not the charger... smart chargers for NiCds and NmHi are stupid lol...they don't detect anything...but are just set to charge your battery for 2hrs ..flat rate....they actually harm the battery more than do it any good.... a better investment would be a speed charger
If you can get your hands on this baby ...buy it... I've had one for almost 10 yrs now ...still use it to charge my testing batteries

Use it in combo with your stock drip charger... as this one also discharges the battery... the gravy is ...if you are in play and your battery runs low...you can recharge in 15 mins
The discharge feature is good for your stock battery as NmHis don't have memory ...anyway...you discharge with this then recharge with the drip...I promise..the battery will last longer that way... I've had NiCds for two years before they wouldn't hold a charge and I had to toss them out...it's a good recipe
Happy Tanking
ALPHA
PS...Never set the charging over 2.75 on the meter... if you do it when it's in the green area ...you will cook your battery..it will also tell you if your battery is no good...there is a green light on the panel... if it doesn't light up when you plug in to charge..your battery is probably no good... the back up test is to turn the dial to max.. if it lights up.. you can still charge it..if nothing ...either keep the battery for speed charging ...and testing your tanks ...or cut the wires off and toss it out

Re: stuck picking need help/advice
I wrote all this below before seeing your reply I'll leave most of it in case you or someone finds it useful anyway! heres my two cents good choice on the tiger by the way!
You didn't mention the king tiger but that's the first one I picked. ..The Tiger was the SECOND..
I had a background going back decades of modelling static tank and aircraft models and one or two each r/c boats and aircraft...I decided to get back in the hobby, after seeing youtube videos about these r/c tanks for years. And the members of this forum were quite welcoming, friendly and always helpful to this yank (model r/c tanks are not nearly as popular here in the USA as there in the UK) and definitely a major factor on getting first one then the other...and danged if one of the first things someone told me here was "don't worry, you'll wind up with more then one."(!!)
I'M both a war historian and modeller and to me the Tiger holds far more appeal then the mass produced, olive drab battlefield death-trap otherwise known as the Sherman tank...The engineering of the Tiger 1 was light years ahead of anything else the allies had and from the day it first saw battle in late 1942 until wars end, it was almost always master of every battlefield it entered. It inspired respect and fear and was one of the German super-weapons of WW2.. the devastation this tank caused was totally out of proportion to the very few (<1400) Tiger 1's that were produced (each tiger cost 800.000 1944 reichsmarks and consumed enough resources to build 3 fighter planes).
As for the model if i did itagain unless you think you might want metal tracks one day (in which case its better to get a tank that comes with them) get the one with plastic tracks...The metal ones to me are heavy, less reliable, heat the motors and circuit board up, and can be problematic. On the other hand a switch to the plastic ones if you decide you don't like the metal, is no expense at all so if in doubt get the tiger with metal tracks to start with.
You may have seen my "fleet" as of now my tiger 1 is still in its base grey...I ordered the zimmerit applique from welsh dragon as it was only $25 US and I want to do it right not do it over..the point is my advice is: if you plan to modify the tank at all, start planning before you even get it...and most important other then choosing the metal options my advice is to not buy anything for the tank before you even get it! I wound up wasting a lot of money on things I changed my mind about later. It's probably better to own the tank at least two weeks before you buy anything expensive (if cost were no object I for one would be in the Tamiya forums I think).
There is a lot of good advice to be found here I and wish I'd followed more of it...as many if not most times the other more experienced people are spot on about issues with our model tanks (and there will be issues!)
