I am building my first Tamiya King Tiger at the moment and apart from using the Full Option's features I plan to add lights, smoke and perhaps a few more "interactive" features to it. I'm thinking of getting a Futaba 2.4GHz 7-channel radio but I'm new to this hobby and I wouldn't want to waste my money. On the other hand I'm ready to spend up to £300 on this gear so hopefully I get a good quality product that will last a few years. I also think this will not be my only RC Tank so using this Radio with other kits (memory?) would be my preference.
Would you please suggest a few higher quality Radios that I could have a look at and purchase in the UK?
What do you think about Futaba 8J?
Much obliged!

Re: Looking for a "Tanktastic" Radio
I use a futaba 7c but i run the tanks with elmod electronics. 6 chanel futaba is a nice radio also.
Re: Looking for a "Tanktastic" Radio
As far as I know ElMod revolutionizes the sound system of the model, right? Very interesting! To keep myself open to this at some point in the future I'll change my search criteria from a 6-channel to 7-channel Radio.Johnf wrote:I use a futaba 7c but i run the tanks with elmod electronics. 6 chanel futaba is a nice radio also.
Any suggestions?
Re: Looking for a "Tanktastic" Radio
I read a very interesting comparison of the Futaba T7C and Futaba T8J. The first is older and has fewer features. It is also more expensive so I'm slowly turning towards T8J. What do you think? Has anybody here used it with tanks?
Re: Looking for a "Tanktastic" Radio
I use a Turnigy 9x and 9xr, both are 8Ch and have open source firmware available. RC Tanks Australia does them with both sticks self centring and flashed with a very tank friendly firmware. They are a reasonable price and Rxs are cheap as chips. I really like them. Using mine with Clark and IBU2 boards. I can recommend the IBU2 as well very good value when compared to other systems.
