Maybe there should be a "fantasy forum" added to the list. As I read through the many builds on the "Masterclass" forum they are locked from comments, it would be helpful if the build thread was posted with it so one could go back through the process. In general looking through the various forums and build threads and I notice very few comments explaining mistakes or highlighting shortcomings as most comments are positive but offer little guidance for the builder. I assume this is the result of people not wanting to "upset" the builder or they don't really know what is correct.
I look at every model as either a learning opportunity or a waste of time and money. If people are afraid of leaving honest feedback for those who are are still learning (we all are) how are they going to get any better?
I don't want to be the only guy who points out flaws as that makes me look like the asshole of the forum and I'm not and don’t want to be. I hope everyone wants to learn like I do.
and to quote that famous guy "opinions are like assholes son, everyone has one" And so now for mine...
I respect each and every post on here period. Anyone who has the guts to come on here and post their work deserves respect. The proper thing to do is to offer your opinion IF THEY ASKED FOR OPINIONS AND FEEDBACK! Too many forums beat up on anyone who has not counted all the rivets and that is sad. That is why I like this forum because it is for the most part a FREINDLY forum. And yes, when asked, I have given opinion and always tried to give advice if I thought I had something to offer.
Reality? Not really possible. There will always be something too thick, something too short, this or that slightly in the wrong position, that colour not quite right, that variation not right for that model, etc... In this scale and if you want to battle with it you have to make many exceptions. I think I am safe to say almost everyone who posts here strives to do something rather than just out of the box. some do a little, some do a lot. There is no better or worse as far as I am concerned. As far as a Masterclass goes I think there should never be such a thing. 99.5% of the people who are in this hobby will never build or try to attain "museum quality" and I can tell you this, the opinions on that "museum quality" are as different as the number of shades of Dunkelgelb we see. There are masters of different disciplines here too. Masters of electronics, running gear, PE, mods, painting. So I pick and choose and I do learn from them but I also learn some tricks and find interest in almost any post I see because I can feel that persons pride and work in something they tried to make better than out of the box whether it be performance or appearance and that is a good thing on this forum and I hope it never changes.
So Jnewboy by all means post a full build here and if you want, ask for opinion and feedback or post it just for the pleasure of showing everyone your work. That is the beauty of this site
