I tried another picture of the air intake ducting 'stuff'. Its fibreglass, woven, and as flexible as rubber. I have enough stuff to do TEN tiger air intakes and all for the princely sum of $6 bucks .
Had a full day out at the beach today with the mob & it was commented that I became agitated & pushing to go...........wife said "oh-he will be missing 'Tanking' and hes well overdue for a Jack Daniels !!!..............alas she knows me to well.

Got a bit more done today. Was a long night between the 21 month old exercising her right to be a B-arch and a late night breakdown call out from work.
Used an old sports club plastic memebership card to get under the paper hole punch to create a couple of lifting trunion end caps for the mantlet sides, and completed the barrel cleaning sections.
The hole punch 'wads' seemed the right size on the dry run, so on they went. Pretty happy with them, if a little thin. May need to double the layer, but will check once primed.
The barrel cleaning sections took a long time for so little tangible gain, but I am very happy with the final product. Best thing is they can go on the deck last, and be stained using good quality fence stain.
I still have the mounting hardware to finalise for them, but that can come after things get more advanced.
The tow cable clamps were a bit more involved than hoped, but after trimming the fat off the stqck cable mounting mouldings, drilling a hole and splitting them, they will do for the loops on the engine grilles. The eyes of the cables will be of a different system.........again not sure on how, but some form of representative clamp will need to be made.

A bit more forward momentum today. Tried to match the wrinkled mud guard as visible in the subject picture. Used ole Jamies' brulee burner and gently formed the deflections with a piece of round wood. came out ok, used a bit of free lance interpretation on the off-picture side.
Decided I wanted the third lifting point on the turret inside the stowage bin centre..............(sigh) really should have done that while it was all apart. :/ But, I didnt and now it was harder.
Chain drilled the moulded patch that fills the gap & gently removed the leftovers. Of course the turret mechanism is under this, so caution was exercised !
Used a flat head nail with the shank cut on a sharp angle. Heated the sharp end with the burner until it glowed. Gently angled it into the cavity with offset long nose pliers and melted it through the turret wall just under the roof plate.
It was held in place & blown until I was close to hyperventilating, it took really well & apart from a small nick out of the 'bin' edge which can be fixed with putty & sandpaper, its a ticked off detail.

I understand the fundamental evidence of addiction is to just never be able to stop, repeated atempts at getting the same 'fix' from the next hit, and spending time thinking about the next 'high' until you get it...................... 8O
With this in mind, I had planned my next project before I had completed the first(jagdpanther) one, have got a ways through the next hit(White tiger) and am already thinking about the next fix................actually the next 3 :D
Does this mean I must schedule a meeting, introduce myself & admit I have a problem or is it that everyone else has the problem for not understanding this, thing, we all have .................

Ok , now it just got worse. My understanding suffering wife has informed me she wants a Sherman........... 8O
So project #4 will be all olive, & have funny skirts(or partial skirts) and stuff I dont know about.....and a little cannon, & have half of a neighbourhood hard-refuse collection chucked on top :wtf:
The 'meeting' I just left did not cover this eventuality. :problem:

Thanks Mr Alpha.........to avoid any confusion I might just paint it pink for her :haha:
Got a bit more done late today. Its ANZAC day here so I was off out for half the day paying respects to the fallen folks that gifted myself & family a future. A mix of sombre & pride, with the burden of knowing I will see the next one in on the very spot that began the legacy ,on the centenary . No chance that one will pass without tears.
The Royal couple of Cambridge made an unplanned attendance at a Dawn Service, which added to the significance of the 99th Anniversary.

Hooked into the roadwheel set. Got the rubber tyres off & calmly thought to myself how quick & easy it will be to paint wheels(unlike the Jagd that had the tyres handpainted)............... :lolno: ...............they took longer , and used way more paint than I anticipated. I pre-sanded the sections of the discs that will face outwards and wiped all the production contamination off.
Used a very heavily thinned Tamiya hull red XF-9 to cover the roadwheels and lower hull.
I really think the kit German Grey was not a good undercoat for the red oxide primer despite all the sanding. But I wanted a thin coat so as not to cover any detail or predjudice the top coat.
I must give credit where it is due, thsese Tigers take a lot of covering. Far more than a Jagdpanther, and the nooks & crannies take a lot of time, paint & patience to avoid missing. More paint than I had in stock as it turns out. :O
You guys that produce such inspiring Tiger builds with accurate camo patterns need a huge rap............
The shops are open again tomorrow, so im off to get more pots of XF-9.
I used the last mist of paint to cover the turret lifting points on the mantlet sides to see how they looked, much better with paint.
These will stay.
