And we have a practicable axle support.
I did not add ball bearings. It is not necessary.
On the next picture you see the used gears. The left one is a M-26 (long axle) gear, the other one is a Tiger-gear (short axle).
After mounting them on a new plate, the axles should come out approx. 15mm off the chassis.
The right gear needs some adapting work to fit above the suspension.
If you would use two gears with short axles the adaption of the right gear would be to much. Instead of covering one it would have to cover two arms.
Fit the reduction gear back to the chassis.
Mount the new drive wheel.
At last assemble the Tiger and get it painted.
Well, of course, it is already done.
That is what it looks like, now.
At the end allow me a personal conclusion to the Torro-Tiger-tank.
1. Turret:
The turret is almost identical to a middle version of this tank.
The turning center point is almost correct and needs not to be adjusted.
The muzzle is a little bit right of the mantlets center. That is also correct.
The gunners hatch is not to be opened. To open it, you have to cut it. That is not nice but ok.
As I wrote before, the pistol port is missing but not necessary with the middle version.
The brackets for the spare tracks are horrible. They have to be replaced by new ones.
The recoil unit is not working right. It should be replaced by a working one, too.
It is hard work to replace but it pays off.
2. Upper hull:
The driver´s vision port is easy to be opended on this model. But I know, meanwhile, they changed it. So it is one instead of four parts. So it should be removed by a complete new one.
The machinegun is ok and can be left as it is.
The headlight is also ok.
The used tools on top are in good shape and look very good. They are separate an can be easy removed.
The air outlet grids are smaller as the ones on HL-Tigers. But that is ok.
Two things are missing. The engine compartment air intake and the edges of the engine hatch is not visible. But, as far as I know, that was changed, too.
3. Chassis:
The wheels look quit good. Much better than the HL ones. And they have removable rubber rings.
The suspension is ok for the weight of the vehicle. So you should not put much more to it. To increase the suspension power is not possible. Well, at least, I don´t know how.
The gear is ok for driving inside. If you want to go outside you should change the whole gear.
Especially when using metal tracks.
4. Electronics:
No comments. Every S&S HL-Tiger is unbeatable against this shit. It´s like driving a non S&S HL but worse. But it is easy to change to RX-whatever or other known stuff.
Closing
This model is identical with the new middle version Tiger I kit from Hobby Boss.
Who just wants to have a static model, by the Hobby Boss Tiger. (No mechanical or electronics included)
If you want a running one, by the Torro Tiger and do the modifications.
What ever, this basic is very good for a middle version of a Tiger I.
If you want to have a good driving model, even for outside terrain, you need equivalent modifications.
Everything I wrote in this thread is, without exceptions, my personal opinion.
Other people may have different opinions, of course.
