Re: "WHITE TIGER"
Yeah, it's entirely plausible that a Tiger crew with a need, 5 minutes to spare, a blow torch and some steel cable, track pins or old scrap would fashion hooks and links for attachments they needed that they could then thread rope through. For modelling some 0.4mm copper wire might work for the tie points welded to the hull for your hemp rope to go though. There were also handles on the engine deck you could make that way and use them as mounts for the rope. There's also the mounting points for the S mine launchers which could be reused - in fact they'd make allot of sense given the locations on the corners.

Re: "WHITE TIGER"
Ive done a lot of searching, but cannot find any prose or indication of just how this unditching process was to be undertaken by a stuck tiger crew. I know the manual prohibited towing recovery of another vehicle and that this was done regardless, but the widespread use of unditching beams to self-recover or assist recovery must surely have been outlined in some form of disciplined way to the crews of these strategically vital machines. Could you imagine the stress of being in THE latest & greatest military fighting vehicle your nation has produced to defeat all others, and you're just stuck .............and the great idea that 'ole Lothar' gave you to hang a tree on the side of your military dream machine means nothing without the understanding of how to get the stupid tree attached to the tracks long and strong enough to get your ass out of a world of trouble

Re: "WHITE TIGER"
That is a very handy site HERMAN, thank you, I went roaming through and straight away found that the pintle pin in the rear tow hook is a straight rod with a loop on top to retain the chain in other words nothing like the pintle I had been led to believe with a welded rod attached at 90 degrees. I am enjoying your build very much, it is one of the strengths of this forum that so much research goes into so many builds. Stay with it my hero. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone

Re: "WHITE TIGER"
Incredible level of info at the photo interpretation level..........I was amazed by the depth that these guys go to ,to actually identify a single vehicle in different areas and intervals from combat to rear area, to train redeployment.
So I now know my '100' has to have barbed wire mounting points, but no wire, and the crank handle mounteed where I would not have even begun to , and if I keep digging I* reckon they will provide me the name of the crew !!
I used to have several Squadron books on Tiger In Action............I just tried variations of Tiger in( im in German) and up she come.
Staggering how 70 plus year old pictures can be bought together by dedicated individuals to provide almost forensic proof that a certain vehicle is or isnt that one................

Re: "WHITE TIGER"
So, it begins in earnest.
My first venture into the secret realm of the inside of one of these.
Have got steel roadwheels and other goodies on order, have got metal headlights & hatches to fit now, and I hope some other bits & pieces that can be dealt with at the same time.
Broke the tracks using a spare pin and a small hammer to drive the fitted pin out.
Pulled the caps off the drive sprockets & removed.
Removed all the roadwheels & set about the idler. This is glued togehter. So it can stay for now until the new ones arrive.
I can say this is looking less like a mighty beast of war than a new addition to the Panzer Wrecks literature series,

Re: "WHITE TIGER"
Got into the heart of the beast. Seems its manufacturers got jiggy with the cyanoacrylate on everything. Anything the cyno missed was covered in motorcycle chain lube from the steel gear set. Good to know they wre thinking of my long term happiness, but the crap is all through the switches & reciever plugs.
I will make some form of splash guard for the gears as I still want to keep them lubed. Thinking of running a small hose from inside the drivers & radiomans working metal hatches through the splash guard to dripp feed the gears.
Made an initial effort to relocated the aerial to its correct spot, but again, the cyno-man has earned his keep. I might try using a soldering iron to conduct heat through the brass base to maybe get it free.
Will set the smoker tubes into a better position, but again, the fixed exhaust caps will not be ideal to flow the smoke solution into the unit. Pains me to say but the only real option is to branch the two tubes together & access the tract through the rearmost filler cap on the engine deck. This is of course assuming I can muster the patience to do so.
