Re: new 1/8 to 1/8 tanker
Hi mate, I'm in the same boat. I want to build a proper steel lower hull, only after getting the correct dimensions , T34 or Tiger1, 1:6 or 1:8 , let us know what you find. Like to obtain an unassembled kit cheers Russell

Re: new 1/8 to 1/8 tanker
sorry,my title should have read 1/8 to 1/6th tanker and it turns out that I have started my build with a 1/7 scale (I guess that is a compromise) T34/85.Started the wheels last night!
Re: new 1/8 to 1/8 tanker
Welcome, Might I suggest 1/6th scale? check out the large scale forum.
Whatever you decide many here have built large scale and have resources which may help you to plan your build.

Re: new 1/8 to 1/8 tanker
thanks for the tip-I never saw the large scale forum prior.I will start reading all the posts there tonight on my night shift and post any questions I have there if I dont find answers in the forum.I did go with 1/7th scale.I can just fit the 2 350watt motors in that scale. If and when i get bored of this one and build another-I may go with 1/6th Tiger
Re: new 1/8 to 1/8 tanker
I have not released two years of designs and builds yet, but intend to soon.
My goal has been to produce a Kit which would allow even beginner level Hobbyist to construct using basic hand tools.
So please contact me if you have any questions, or Cliff or John or any of the guys building in the larger scales. We have all learned so much by sharing resources and knowledge, benefit from our efforts by using the forum to good effect.
cheers Saxondog

Re: new 1/8 to 1/8 tanker
thanks Saxondog, will be posting a question in the forum tonight.I should be ok as my goal is not the fantastic level of finish and absolute accuracy which I see with the expensive kits and the hard core builders. Having built(years ago) a 1/3rd semiscale T34 for my son and I to drive around in I dont think I will have much trouble. The hardest parts then-and now are wheels, tracks and suspension. The rest is a piece of cake.
Re: new 1/8 to 1/8 tanker
I have some spare sets of tracks, where are you located UK or USA?

Re: new 1/8 to 1/8 tanker
ok, what available are Original FIELD OF ARMOR Panther wheels and tracks. of 5 sets 2 could be purchased very reasonably.
I have used these on two Jagdpanther designs and with boring and bearings these wheels are strong enough to support 300lbs total weight.
Tank and Human used with a suspension equipped vehicle, I also have a very old vacu formed 1/6 KVI kit I do not even know the brand of, the local Hobby shop had it in stock when they moved after 20 years in the same location . I aquired it from them.
