Please pardon my utter ignorance on the subject of IR battle systems but i would like to build an IR system into my tiger. I would not be a regular battler so I just need a system to have a bit of fun perhaps once or twice a year.
Because of the hardware i already have the cheapest option for me would most likely be an RC tanks Australia Mako board but i am unsure about which battle unit I would need so i guess my question is - would a mako board make a heng long battle unit compatible with the Tamiya protocols so that I can battle a tamiya equipped tank with a Heng Long battle system fitted to my Tiger or would I still have to purchase a Tamiya battle unit after buying a Mako board?
Many thanks for any advice.
Mako board question
Re: Mako board question
the Mako board allows your IR version HL tank battle with Tamiya tanks or any tank using Tamiya code i.e. ElMod, SLU, IBU2, etc
If you have the airsoft version tank you need the IR emitter and receiver
http://www.welshdragonmodels.co.uk/infr ... -518-p.asp
And that will get you going with other IR tanks.
The only thing is although you will be able to take shots and shoot Tamiya tanks your not 100% to the Tamiya rules, main one is you dont have damage simulation i.e. your tank goes slower with more hits received. But this isn't a problem with most clubs in the UK for occasional users.

Re: Mako board question
cupoftea, let me know if you are interested. I have been selling some of my MAKOs as I have migrated to Clark boards. I will send you a PM as well. I have been using them for the past year so would be able to answer specific questions as well.
P.S. Thanks Ian !

Re: Mako board question
No probs MichaelC
Myself started with the MAKO (luckily got first version FOC thanks to Saxondog) and like many found the it a good starting point before moving to more expensive systems.
