Batterys for the heng long and other stuff please help

Hey guys iv just joined recently and i was wondering if i can upgrade my heng long rc tank battery its a 7.2v 1700(mah) its the standard yellow battery which you get with a heng long Rc tank, at the moment I'm working on my tank. The tank is pretty old and is the old version which means it has no sound no smoke. Now its had 2 brand new motherboards in but somehow keep blowing up. Now i decided to get a rx18 with all the other stuff and put that in the tank. I bought the rx18,receiver board and i just need to buy a transmitter this is the point i get stuck someone told me i need to get crystals I'm going to get those but how shall i fit them in and could someone please help me with this.

you need the later transmitter with the hole for the crystals .. Not the abc transmitter.... Where abouts do you live if its near Manchester we have a meet next week and we are converting a pershing for a guy who has the same old set up you ha . . also we have some old transmitters and youd be welcome to have one. As for batteries any 7.2 pack can be used... ive got 3800's and larger they just give longer running times NiMH are better than NiCad but you need to be carefull as they require a different charger
