Greetings ALPHA.
I shall watch with anticipation how you get on with the skirts with this one. I should put them on my M4(105)! But I doubt I will have the confidence to push the rebuild that far ....
I have no doubt you will do a wonderful job, that will make me so jealous that I may just have to fly out and kidnap all your "girls".

Hey TK... I wasn't really planning on documenting this build... not much to do really... but maybe since you mention the skirts... I will take some photo's of that ... the rest is relatively simple...as the headlight cages will be the same procedure as my other Sherman... and all the lift rings will be removed and replaced with brass stock...the only other major change that I can think of is the exhaust location... HL has them mounted on the bottom of the hull... but this version they are mounted on the top... a good mod though... as the current plumbing on the HL is one of it's faults ... moving them will optimize the smoke flow

Greetings Canned ...The Pershing is a scrapper... already harvested many of the wheels and other stuff... all that was left of the skirts were the four ends... as I must have cut and used the center sections for one of my other tanks
Will probably use what's left of it for either a Chaffee build ...or something along this line

Hi there TK... I don't think I will make changes to those mantlet rings.... might just sand them a little... my main concern is how all the rest of the lift rings are way out of scale..I will probably be using a thick brazing rod or coat wire hanger to change out the hull lift rings ... the rest a thinner diameter ...more like that that I used on my Kv and T34

Not to worry though... since there is some interest I will have some photo's once I start the build

I saw a ref to an M4A1 in there with skirts but all it showed were the rear mud guards. I know that they existed and were used on the tanks (just long enough for the C.O. to be looking the other way while the tankers removed them) Almost universally disliked for some reason. The Saunders Shermans have them tho' and they will look great in 1/16th scale.

Hey Painless.... thanks much for the additional info... did some work on the upper last night.... not to happy with what Mato put out... they did some good things but a lot more bad things IMO.... Not to mention I think the barrel is too thick on this one too...thinking I might have to make a new Mantlet for it

Hand still hurts... not going to baby it anymore.. so I kind of pushed .... trimmed the base of the turret down...that was pretty easy... the worse part of the turret is the turret itself as the two halves don't fit together well...and the plastic is very thin... not conducive to heavy sanding

Thing about the skirts... not sure what the rear looks like... found a good pic of how they mount... but I guess I'm going to have to wing it on the rear

wait ...just found a couple... don't think they will stick..but what the heck... anyway wrong bogies

alpha, mato turrets are a little tall they have few extra thou on them that makes em look to tall so if you like you slice the bottom the turret off [the fixing ring ] then take about 2/8th of the bottom half sand smooth and flat, sand your fixing mount flat and smooth then epoxy together again ,don't forget your mounting stubs will need reducing same, not to much so you don't have any thing for your screws to get hold of ,now it sit lower to the hull......if you havn,t done already that is .....wot wot ......

regarding the Mato mantlet, with a bit of sanding/filler/detailing it can be made to look a bit better, not 100% but better
Here's one I did on my easy 8 battler, I also used a HL stug barrel, or if you can find a T34 one they're about right for the 76mm

Dang Frank... yours does look better than the stock one (then again when does it not...look better that is lol ) ...but man..that a lot of work I knew something was wrong with it...just couldn't put my finger on the problem... and it seems the problem is the whole assembly ...oh well off to the copper mines

You know fynsdad ... when I entered this adventure... I thought it would be easy... but as I worked on the turret found out different...it interesting to say the least... that Mato could put a really nice machine gun... periscope cages ... serial numbers and other little details... and let so many other details go without measure

What really boggles my mind is that you have three Shermans on the bench ...and still had time to whip out Canned's M51 dang fynsdad... you are tireless
