This seems like a popular affordable option.
Will such a transmitter be useable with my Heng Long RX18 board or will I have to upgrade the receiver?
I want to buy a cheap RC plane this year...
(like this:http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... _PNF_.html)
....and have a nicer transmitter for use with multiple other 1/6th scale RC military models I've got stowed away for future builds.
I don't have any experience with radio equipment for RC vehicles. Are transmitters like that DX6i easily used with all sorts of models?
What other transmitters are popular here? Keeping in mind I'd like one for use with a plane, helicopter or maybe ship as well.
What transmitter to use?

Re: What transmitter to use?
hi sovereign
you will not be able to use any other transmitter with a standard heng long set up.
there are many options available to get round this ( almost as many as there are different brands of transmitter!
)
cue the vultures to procure a sale!
good luck dude
oh by the way how is your electrical & soldering skills?
as this should be a determining factor in your decision

Re: What transmitter to use?
I'm pretty happy with my soldering skills, it's been about ten years but I used to make lots of robot kits and other electronic toys with hundreds of tiny solder points and heat delicate parts. I used to know how to read resistors by heart but much of my electronic knowledge has faded...lister fiend wrote:oh by the way how is your electrical & soldering skills?

Hi SovereignZuul
That radio is a good radio (lots of people from various RC hobbies use it) but like Lister said it won't work with the Heng Long as it doesn't use the standard servo wire connection most electronics do, but there are a couple of alternative receiver boards which will make it work the RX18.
As for other brands of radio Hobby King ones, Turnigy, Planet and a few others.
Ian.
