german tank led,s

Post by rayzzer-b »

hi' all got bored one weekend an thought there's got to be something that will fit the rear light in say the TIGER" so i set about it thinking this may be not be as easy as it turned out ' so first what to use as the light source after some rummaging around in garage found my old box of train bits covered in dust lol'' inside some electronics an in with them some led,s most being 5mm round no good but hidden with them ''' two 2mm x 3mm x 4mm flat, jumping for joy i knocked over tin a paint clean it up later , so measured them up a perfect fit glued them together positives on outside negativein so you have a light 2mm x 6xmm x 4mm flat , oh thay must be plastic lenses ' glass no good as a bit of sanding to reduce the length down to 2mm x 6xmm x 3mm ' great fit drilled out back plate on tiger 2mm drill bit light sanding good to go . wired a potantmeter 10k, oms to bring the power down as heng long led,s are more powerful but i changed them now for 3mm ones , tested them out    looking good ordered some more led,s from ( bright components ) an do this to the rest photos show the mod in parts and working ,,, hope you like and i worked out cost around under a £5 per tank ,, panzzer 4 im doing now rear an front , photos when accomplished

Well Ray ... that is what I try to do :haha: ...emphasis on "try" lol...my problems came with transferring the electronics from a plastic hull to a metal one 8O ...you know how HENG LONG LEDs have exposed connections :haha: ...they all had to be double insulated.... my first attempt wasn't that successful
