Eastern Front wrote:Hi Tanker 242,

I have seen that as well,,,Apparently they were fielded to test the drive train and for training purposes..I guess they wanted to save the turrets for the "Eastern front" (not me) I have a spare panther and was thinking of modelling one of these... There were five made (supposedly) but there is no evidence that any were used in combat... I would think as desperate as things were, they were used or at least the Panzer IV turrets were removed and replaced with the correct turrets and sent into combat..

Cheers!
From what I read they were used in combat zones as HQ vehicles and were actually a field mod done by techs in Grossdeutschland. The thing is the turrets were made inoperable. I didn't know they did 5 units though!

I just received my panzer IV and i ran it outside in the lawn, dissapointing!!!!!!!!! straight ahead is no problem but when turning the panzer just
has to little torque!!
Since i am a newbie to tanks, what are my options with this problem?
Also, are there anythings i should do or check on the tank before i tear it apart to start with the detailing?

Thanks
Dean
I don't quite understand your problem... all my tanks which are HENG LONG have plenty or torque ... especially with the High end models...but with that said...some have needed to be tweeked...open up your tanks... jiggle your gears... make sure none are binding...sometimes when the factory assembles the cages... they go together a little out of line and bind the bearings... loosening the screws that hold them together helps ... also... lube those puppies... I use a semi viscous lube meant for RC cars... just a little dab will do ya.... then run that sucker full speed forward and backwards

Another note to remember... the one thing HENG LONG German tanks with metal tracks suffer from is track tension especially on the PANZER III and IV...on the IV... the tensioners are difficult to find... so the best option is to invest in a set of MATO tracks ... where you have spare links to acquire some track slack ...which also adds to the overall look of the tank

GOOD LUCK

Hi Dean, ABER make different pattern tread plates although working out the right scale is not easy, Peddinghaus make tread plate decals, I do not think Welsh Dragon sells them so you might have to go to Peddinghaus own website, do remember when buying from a German company on line, you will need to use Pay-Pal, while your on their site have a good look round they make some very useful stuff, I would caution you that applying their decals is a very delicate operation. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
