Re: info for servo recoil !

Sorry MM.... this is it for now. I am installing the clark board tonight and will be able to test the recoil. I usually just super glue the servo to the side of the recoil unit, that's why it is only clamped right now to make sure that it is the travel distance I want. I suppose I can also adjust the linkage rod length but this is easier since I need to test it anyway. I will try to post a video of the recoil once I have everything up and running.

Gutted the sucker, remove the air valve and the wing tip from the cam and cut off the bottom piece altogether so you can get at the cam with the servo arm. I think there is a thread somewhere on how to do that with a HL recoil unit and that's what I used to do, but I find that the BB unit is actually much better. It has a larger "cam" for the recoil, and also you can get much longer travel after cutting off the bottom.

Had some config issue with the clark last night but will post video once I have it going.

madman, here it is....... the Sherman turret is tiny so I have to re-position the servo just so that elevation is not affected.

Good enough for now but if my parts comes in soon enough I can switch to a shorter linkage rod and may get couple more mm of travel out of it.

My last one was a much better recoil....... :-)

The Sherman is dgsselkirk and he is okay with the recoil since it is a 105mm short barrel howitzer and won't have much recoil in real life anyway so I am leaving it as is. The HI flash bulb won't fit thru so I have to do the good old snip and patch to get the bulb in the barrel from the muzzle end. Send me PM if you need more detail info.

Good luck !
