The upper hull, turret, and tracks are metal, but everything else is plastic. I bought one for a Kelly's Heroes build, but only needed the running gear, tracks, and turret. The upper hull has sat around for about two years, until I heard about Alpha's project. So, I'm happy that it found a good home. -Mike
Yes... And I cannot thank you enough ...the fit was amazing ... though my stubby fingies did break off some of the details lol

Here's another link.. it's a little cheaper but not much

there was another ... but either it ended or the seller changed it back to the regular price as I couldn't find it
Here are two in the Uk

Thanks again Mike

you must for the sake of decency abandon this project immediately and pass the task on to me post haste if there was not a big puddle between you and I there may have been sabotage/theft attempts on this project, the bits you have will make a damm fine early IDF ,so find out how much to ship across the pond and do so forthwith .......

I am loving the build already ....i will watch and enjoy ...love the early hull top
I want one too ......have u a link ...so i can try to get my hands on one or two ?

Keep up the fab work ....its looking like a superb build !
Thank you Mcevoyi... I would have thought a master builder like yourself would have made one from scratch already...I know that's a similar route I was going to attempt with the stock HENG LONG hull..and ask you and maybe fynsdad for some tips ... but I got a call from sassgrunt.. with an offer I couldn't refuse

Hours of less intensive labor lol....though sass was one of the modellers that I heard stories about how the hull might be difficult to adapt...I called him back as soon as I fit the hull... he was pretty surprised as was I that it fit so easily :D

Have a good one Mcevoy

It looks wonderful. I am glad to hear that the idea of using a FoV metal upper worked so well. Sassgrunt said it would and it opens up new possibilities for Sherman builds. The tracks look great and are worth the effort. Nice hatches with periscopes.! Definitely following this one.
Warm regards,
Painless
:haha: Mike was actually one who said there was difficulties and that I might have to do more mods :haha: ...I could see his point... He showed me a SHERMAN he was working on...mounting a similar hull to a Tamiya... to say the least..it kind of frightened me 8O

But now... with this mating.. I would say this is the best way to go :D

Next one Painless ? ;)

scalawag wrote::D Yeah where did you get that hull ALPHA? I want one too :D
It was a leftover from a Wise man who bore gifts ....Actually sassgrunt... who is really a wealth of knowledge like you Scalawag ...we were just having a conversation ... and were discussing the Girls und Panzer SHERMAN ...me saying I wanted to do a conversion ... and wham... He said he had a hull he could part with
It was a very fortunate coincidence

It's a very nice hull... all the hatches open even the engine compartment and 95% of all the details and the hull are white metal
which adds to the weight... which I do appreciate on this tank

Have a great day scalawag

Alpha,
Yeah, *chuckles* Sass and I were talking about the rate of success using the FoV upper with the HL hull and he expressed cautious optimism. I too am very glad it was a snap fit. Next one? Next Sherman if I do one in the near future, will be a Jumbo to complement this 105 I'm working on now. Looking forward to the next pics, my Friend.
warm regards,
Painless

You know Painless... I think you will enjoy MIkes company when he visits you... the guy is like a walking library ... and has so much techniques and information just stored away waiting to be shared... when I acquired the hull... he showed me what he had done with his SHERMANS ... a few that had the same adapted... it's nothing but amazing what he did which almost translated into fear.. as I didn't feel like getting that involved ...especially after the KV

But all turned out better than good... seems the hull snapped on like it was made for the HENG LONG... as well as the transmission cover ... which I think was made to fit the Tamiya
it fit so well... all I had to do was line up the stock transmission cover with the new... and drill holes for the line up screws...it's a perfect mesh... as even the contour of the plastic hull matched the internal contour of the cover

To which I will agree with something Sass expressed... that because this mating went so well and so easily... it will open the doors for many more Shermans of this kind to be made..as the FoV tank is still available

By the way Painless... Sass is working on a Jumbo too...I've been trying to get him to post pictures...maybe if we both prod him a little he might :haha:

Have a relaxing night Painless

Okay, I see what you guys are planning - "Let's all gang up on the technology-challenged guy and FORCE him to learn to take pictures and share them, (like the rest of us do)." And let me tell you, when I DO get to that point, you folks are going to feel a LOT better about the quality of your own builds. Just sayin'... -Mike
