Think of magnum ammunition in a Colt Police Special (STUBBY), the bullets go everywhere but the power in the bullet is massively increased. Hope this holiday is the best for you old friend. shaun
Yes indeed shaun... the initial blast does provide the power... but when it comes to muzzle velocity .. length makes a difference..and yes... it will also be more accurate ...
from WIKIPEDIA
Muzzle velocity is the speed a projectile has at the moment it leaves the muzzle of the gun.[1] Muzzle velocities range from approximately 400 ft/s (120 m/s) to 1,200 ft/s (370 m/s) in black powder muskets,[2] to more than 4,000 ft/s (1,200 m/s)[3] in modern rifles with high-performance cartridges such as the .220 Swift and .204 Ruger, all the way to 5,700 ft/s (1,700 m/s)[4] for tank guns firing kinetic energy penetrator ammunition. The velocity of a projectile is highest at the muzzle and drops off steadily because of air resistance.

In conventional guns, muzzle velocity is determined by the quality (burn speed, expansion) and quantity of the propellant, the mass of the projectile, and the length of the barrel. A slower burning propellant needs a longer barrel to burn completely, but can on the other hand use a heavier projectile.[5] A faster burning propellant may accelerate a lighter projectile to higher speeds if the same amount of propellant is used. In a gun, the pressure resulting from the combustion process is a limiting factor on projectile velocity. A balance between propellant quality and quantity, projectile mass, and barrel length must be found if both safety and optimal performance is to be achieved.

Longer barrels give the propellant force more time to work on propelling the bullet.[5] For this reason longer barrels generally provide higher velocities, everything else being equal. As the bullet moves down the bore, however, the propellant's gas pressure behind it diminishes. Given a long enough barrel, there would eventually be a point at which friction between the bullet and the barrel, and air resistance, would equal the force of the gas pressure behind it, and from that point, the velocity of the bullet would decrease.

In comparison... my T34 shoots by far harder and more accurate than my Sherman ..and reason I really don't care for the King Tiger :D

Have a good one shaun

Alpha my friend on using the IR unit for tank battles you are 100% right there's no way i would shoot at one of my tanks with the BB's but i'm not into Tank battles if i were yes i would defiantly buy the IR model. Cheers Diesel
No problemo Diesel... the situation does make me wonder though... why did you buy it in the first place?... airsoft versions are plentiful... and cheaper too

Alpha i did buy the Airsoft version ! but they sent me the IR version instead...

Ah.... then I can understand your disappointment ...wasn't there other vendors? that listing is confusing... not only is the SHERMAN a little on the pricey side... but it really doesn't state you had a choice

I would say you lucked out in a way... because they are picking up the tab for everything...most US sellers aren't like that... but usually deal only with the airsoft versions
..which usually work

Alpha here in Aus they are so strict on weapons that's its illegal to even own a slingshot, all airsoft products are also not permitted so i was lucky enough to find 2 sellers that still had the airsoft version in stock. It looks like they have run out of them now and can't import them anymore so that's why he shipped me the IF model.. Yes Diesel ... I know about your airsoft regulations.... I once modded a M-14 for a guy who was going back home there ....said it couldn't fire in auto... so I disarmed the mech and made it single shot for him....though I didn't know that trickled down to airsoft tanks..because they shoot semi auto anyway... and at a much lower fps ...

In a way... Painless's offer may have been a good way to make the deal work... though I'm not sure you ever took a tank apart in that manner before
as it sounds like an entire tank.wouldn't make it through your customs

anyway... good luck with the follow through.. the HENG LONG Sherman is tops in my book...as I got to play with a Mato recently...which (no offense to those who love the Mato) turned out to be rather funny in operation ...yes ,,, it made me laugh ;)

Have a good one Diesel

Hi Diesel,
....Australias government seems to be even more reactionary and pathetic that England.... 8O ...( the way that they are clamping down on bike 'gangs' is bloody outrageous !!)
Banning Airsoft and Slingsots......Pathetic..... If criminals want guns they WILL get them !!...and knives are always available to mug people or convenience stores.... How many people have been robbed with an airsoft or a sling Shot !!
.
You can always go for the compressed CO2 route...for a cannon......that are used by the R/C naval boys...who literally 'sink each others battleships' in RC combat.....
That way you get a tank gun with real power !!...and full auto fire for an AA gun... :D
The naval R/C guns are ( or were) legal.....and can easily be made with readily available parts ..which only make a 'GUN' when you assemble them 8O .....just watch out for nosey neighbours and Airborne reconnaissance 'Drones'...... :haha:

:haha: :haha: Boy Dietrich... you sure opened that proverbial political can of worms lol...but I agree... firearm control isn't the way to solve anything.... just as you said... criminals don't care... they get weapons under the table anyway :lolno:

I think the only people politicians want to protect .. are themselves ;)

Note for Diesel.... If you are going to get another tank... try and get your hands on the T34... it's only manufactured in airsoft I think lol...but shoots by far harder and more accurately than the SHERMAN :D
