This wire goes here and .......OH SNAP!!!

Post by Herr Fritz »

Well...it was like this....I was finally wrapping it all up ....connecting the dots ...having a good ol' time
...WHEN!......I plugged the battery in the speaker jack on the TK22......OUCH!!! :shh: :O :/
.....in a heartbeat I pulled it back out but ...yup!...it only took a second to FRY the IC
Audio Amp! RATS!!!! :eh: ....all other functions still worked but .....NO SOUND.
I wanted to craw under a rock! :{
"
"
I wrote to Clark on Facebook and he told me two things....I can carefully replace the IC audio amp chip
OR....simply hook up an external AMP like mentioned on the CLARK site.
"
"
I just just so happens that I just picked up an AMPLIFIER KIT from local Electronics Retailer
built it in 30 min and it worked GREAT!
"
"
What did we learn boys and girls?.....Don't be a spaz!....take yer time and THINK before going like a
spider Monkey on crack with the wires! :/
"
"
Here is the Kit I used...not bad at all....with a 90 watt peak 3" speaker.

Thank you!

In fact its best anyways...I now am doing a better job grouping and controlling all the wires.
"
"
It dawned on me that most of the Tanks functions ( on a Tiger anyways ) are on
the upper Hull....and from below are only 8 wires...4= Motors...2=Batt ...und 2= speaker
why run all those fwiggin wires from below to above??....SO...I mounted the TK22 und the
Amp to the Upper Hull....and I also realized that the space between the gear boxes and forward
of the motors is a nice piece of realestate that is not being used!....NOW...I'm working on a partial
NON attached hinge technique where the front part of the UPPER HULL can rest on these pivot points
while I hook up two 4 pin ( computer power connectors ) from the old wire box ...they will be attached
back to back ( female's ) and the MALE connectors the same way...so right there in the front of the tank
its all a 'snap' and no messing around with stuffing / tucking wires so I can put the upper hull in place.

While doing some quick testing outside the other day...I realized that in the field you do not want to be
fussing, tucking and stuffing even just a couple bundles of wire just to get going!

Whatiya think? Pics soon.
