Good Morning,
Sassgrunt,
That sounds like a very good method for getting an accurate Idler out of the set. Pictures please when you can manage it. Jeff, Good Morning, these metal cans will be very nice once I have cleaned up the seam and painted them as the water can type. I love stowage. It adds a human element to these metal mountains.
regards,
Painless

Re: 1944 M4A3 105mm
12th Day: Yes indeed, the 'Jerry' cans need three handles. Before I paint those, I will add a third bar made out of a heavy duty staple. Another parts shipment arrived, the Tamiya sprue of stowage gear from JR-RC's and the Taigen 2.4 GHz TX\RX\Speaker combo from Forgebear. Beautiful stuff and highly useful to my build. Tonight, I wanted to return to the engine bay doors and fix the spacing issue and also see if mesh or a center brace was required on them. The method of repair for the spacing was to build a rim of flat plastistruct around the inside of the engine bay for the doors to rest on. Research on existing tanks and from wartime pictures showed no center brace or mesh. Rather, the underside of the doors was louvered and there were two deep engine air dams under those. No space exists in my Sherman for those so I was satisfied with installing the rim and fixing the gaps. Pictures:

Evening Painless,
Both the Panther and Mid Tiger 1 are going well, I'm waiting for Fotki to come back on line to post some pics for the Panther. Got the turret 80% complete less the servo recoil and elevation mech. Detailing the upper and lower hull and trying out some different idea within the lower hull. Just waiting for some stuff coming from Steve that I ordered tonight. Happy Holidays to you as well...

13th Day: On Friday the 13th I wisely decided to take a break. (before I broke something) I did receive another bit of Welsh treasure and was happy to see it arrive. Something that I had denied myself on my previous Panther build. Tomorrow should be a quiet and less accident prone day to enjoy the hobby.

Hey Painless... sorry I haven't been here the last couple of days to view your progress.... in a way I'm a little spooked... as your build is making me think of re doing my SHERMAN... not a good thing... as I'm still working on the KV lol.. but that's not the real reason.. it's just the past couple days have been filled with other priorities.. to tanking sadly takes second seat to them
But hey... that hatch work came out great... didn't realize when you said gap... it was a gap that big.
...I really can't wait for the next installment of the build
