Beginner tanks for many people?

So me and my coworkers are all looking to get RC tanks that can battle with infrared weapons. Tanks that have sounds, rotating turrets, get disabled when they're shot, all the good stuff. But it's a tough sell if we all have to pay $200 per tank. I looked at sets like the iplay set on Amazon and from what I've gathered you can only have 3 tanks fighting at once. There are six of us.

Any recommendations? Help for the noobie?

Unfortunately MrGreezy... that is about the price for entry ...especially IR... for some reason retailers sell them for a higher price...I'm not sure where you live... but the bb models on EBAY... start at about 80...most with free shipping in the 48 contiguous states

Your only other alternative is to look for them used

Well, is there a brand or manufacturer that you'd recommend? How do we all set it up so they recognize each other? If I can convince these guys to drop that money I want to be able to have a plan laid out.

The lowest entry price models would have to be from Heng Long.
They have a good range of tanks on the German side but the Allies you are limited to the American Sherman or the Russian KV-1 and T-34.
I think that the older Heng Longs have about 10 or 12 crystal frequencies to choose from.....The latest 2.4 Ghz systems are unlimited number of tanks...... Each hand set and tank are individually coded... But I think that only the Sherman and possibly the T-34 are available with this new system yet.

I agree with that... prices for brands vary country to country...in the US HENG LONGS are not that expensive... UK... is fare... Japan is outrageous

Spot on Dietrich.. but it isn't the SHERMAN that has the 2.4 but the LEOPARD... the T-34 does as well...and yes they are coded to the tank ... you cannot "bind" with another

I might add... not all HENG LONGs have IR standard ... it is an option... so you have to either look for a dealer who carries the modified models...like MATOMART...and they do cost a little more

Individualizing each tank is going to be your next hurdle... it will depend on the tanks you all choose... same tanks will likely need the crystals to be changed out...If you get the newer 2.4 systems you won't have to worry... I have two HENG LONG 2.4gig T-34s....the controller cannot be switched....
though it is not yet available in IR...you have to get an "add on" accessory

If you cannot bind the different receiver to different radios then what is the binding button on the new HL 2.4Ghz system is for ? I bought a Leo but never use it so I am curious now. I have thought that the binding button is for bind to different HL 2.4 Ghz radios.

I wouldn't be sure MichealC...but I think the LEOPARD has a different set.... all I know is my two T-34s run on different signals... and there is no sync button.that I know of...anywhere on the tanks or controller...I did try... when my second one came... I pressed all the buttons except the start... to attempt the sync... nothing


Was it you that were selling the Heng Long LEOPARD 2.4 system? if not.. but the listing I found interesting because it said it included the system link board ... the T-34s don't have that ..it might be an assumption on my part... but my general conclusion is the tanks are linked at the factory
