When I do my Capture KV-2 build, I'm just going to leave them on. Heck, I'll leave the headlight and rear machine gun too. I will add the Notek light too because the driver of that baby needs all the light they can have at night. ;o)

Hey! the resin turret didn't come with a rear machine gun lol ...I did take the one from the KV-1 ... going to do some mod and hook a LED to it...as soon as I get the smoker worked out lol...hopefully the Taigen doesn't have the same issues ...it comes with different gearboxes right? I could see why HENG LONG went with the high profiles... but darn! there's just no clearance between the motor and the hull to hook up the second exhaust outlet....

Two reasons for removing the side plate armor... they are historically more correct .... and those molded ones are so dang ugly :haha: ...I think pale said it best when describing the symmetry of the bolts :haha:

Have a good one painless

Update... on the GIGANT.... nothing on the external details.... did more internal stuff this time.... getting the smoker to work turned out to be hours of mind boggling fabrication and re organizing of the internals...now even though it doesn't appear organized.. it works lol

Just a general over view of how things turned out ...the smoker and speaker had to be swapped out... position wise... I had the RX18 mounted where everything was cleaner... but when re attaching the hull... there wasn't enough play in some of the stock wires... so I had to put it back in the original position

this is how the speaker sits presently... held down with velcro... you can also see where I moved the firing LED ..it was a little tricky... just because of the proximity of the gears and the wires... solved that with a little unshrunk heat shrink

Very important if you plan not to go with low profile gearboxes.... the cage must be ground for clearance

I'm calling this the wonder block... it's the only way I could figure out to provide smoke to the appropriate exhausts..I kind of messed up... so you cannot see how I prioritized one side so it would get more flow .... but it works... and smoke comes out of each exhaust evenly

The miracle block... I just included this one to show you how thin I had to make it to clear the gearboxes so you could put the upper hull back on

I saw a video where a guy did it with his... it wasn't all that detailed..it didn't show the hookup of the exhausts to the smoker ... but he spent a bunch of money on upgrades...so it might have been slightly easier... though I don't think so...as he changed everything... the entire bottom hull.. gearboxes control unit etc.... so I'm not sure what kind of clearances he had...probably still not much even without the battery box ... he did move his smoker to the upper hull.... and no it won't really work on the stock HENG LONG unless you do change things out......or move the rotation motor

Part of the reason I regret cutting out the engine vents.... it left less "area" to play with...the only silver lining I could find in cutting them out... was I could see how the hull mounting points lined up

Well that's it for now.. I think I got all the major work done...now on to the little details :lolno:

The only drawback to doing all the mods on this KV is HENG LONG really kept everything tight... even the wires are done to perfection... so moving things around became problematic...What I did is with what is provided "stock"...so if you have the patience ... extra parts or finances... I would say order some new more lengthy wires...as length became an issue during re assembly

But like I said before... it may not be pretty internally... but everything works

Oh... I might up this baby to a 9.6....for some reason.. she gobbles up the stock 7.2...I think it's because there is no resistor on the front LED..and it acts like a discharger

By the way not sure if anyone will notice... I copied the wire centering gadget on the turret... some might recognize it as the lower hull armor... what can I say... I like recycling HENG LONG plastic :haha: :haha:

That looks perfect. Even better than what I had imagined for myself. I was thinking I could get the smoker next to the controller and not have to get into splicing. But, in the worst case, 3 wires to extend. Nice work.

Good Evening,
Very good work indeed! I noticed that you were reusing the armor pieces, Alpha. ;o) Thrifty is good especially if it works!

Copy it if you like palepainter... it works really well... If you like I can draw up a rough schematic and post a photo of it... pretty easy fab once done lol.... inventing it was the hard part :haha:

you will have to extend the wires for the smoker ...but that's pretty easy soldering
I used aluminum tape to secure it ... mostly because it's a prototype... but you can either glue the assembly or use RTV or Silicon to bond it to the hull to make sure there is no leakage ;)

:haha: I even used the armor for the miracle box lol.... they were perfect thickness... all I did was add some clear plastic that's used on everyday products with blister packs :D

What can I say... i couldn't find my bag of plastic card :haha: ...................

Take care Painless

More Firepower for the Gigant... :D

Did a little more electrical work last night ... hooked up my fabricated machine guns ...both work :D

Front

Rear Turret

Both.... Alternate firepower? You bet
