Sorry no idea on the cost... but you can PM edwin...robs5230 wrote:that looks very slick ( and expensive ) . any idea of cost ?ALPHA wrote:Upgrade the WSN... if you can afford it...strip all the guts out and get this from edwin (he's a member here who machines metal everything for the tanks )robs5230 wrote:i have just bought a very little used wsn t34. just looking for a few ideas on what can be done to modify it. any help appreciated. thanks rob

this is a video of a chassis he posted for another guy..who was looking into either the WSN or HENG LONG...edwin's is by far better than both... and would probably be a better investment than changing out all the parts needed to make the WSN into a good performer ...yes .. the internals are that bad
Welcome to the board Rob

this link will take you to the page I got the video from

go to his post ... under his name is a PM icon... you can message him that way.. that chassis is cool... everything is machined metal... I have a friend here who re did three WSNs... I didn't ask how much it cost him to do them... but there was so much done to make it a good runner ...everything internally that was stock was gone... and there is no real solution for the poor suspension the tank has...I think only one of my friend's chassis had torsion bars put in...all three were custom built
Unfortunately it's the only real solution to the woes of the WSN...and the way I would go if I had one... the other option would be to get the HENG LONG... but if you went in that direction... you may as well sell the WSN ... and keep the HENG LONG... it may not be as pretty... but it's a runner

Re: WSN t34/85 upgrades
Good Afternoon again,
I asked Edwin once about the cost to do a Tiger 1 but didn't get a figure back. With the quality of his work, I guessed it was one of those 'if you have to ask, you can't afford it' scenarios.
;o)

Re: WSN t34/85 upgrades
the t34 should be here today. i have been reading up like mad but seem to be no wiser. can anyone clarify a couple of points ?
if i were to change the gearbox , which box should i look out for and are they easy to mod to fit ? ( whole box not just the upgrade metal gears )
can anyone break down into laymans terms the options for mods to the electronics and which parts i could change and where they can be sourced in the uk ?
thanks rob

Re: WSN t34/85 upgrades
Rob First thing first the running gear in the WSN is good..... several are used a lot at our club meetings and the only changes are the electronics the gearboxes are good if treated properly and tracks are more than adequate (ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE EITHER DOSNT OWN ONE OR CANT LOK AFTER ANYTHING PROPERLY) we do a lot of battling and public displays and they are great, if you shift to metal tracks you just increase wear and stresses on the boxes especially if you are running on grass, which is a hard surface to turn on with metal tracks (they grip to well). IVE six WSN and not one problem with any of them and they run a lot
We change the electronics for several reasons....... we do infa red battling and the wsn system is not compatible, the wsn radio is a bit toy like and only available in a couple of frequencies ............SO
You will need a 2.4Ghz Transmitter and receiver for these options :- then you can run your tank any time with other tanks with no interference
Clark board cheapest good option simple to swap over and rewire , great sounds and reliable about 70quid
IBU2 newest system on the scene, similar to the clark board but with interchangeable sounds so you could easily have one board for several tank types, simply unplug it put a different chip in from the ones supplied and plug it into another tank ie a tiger about 120 quid
Tankbear on the forum here is great and is UK distributer for the IBU (exceptional backup service)
Clark you easily find on an internet search
You can easily dive in to deep and spend loads of cash for no reason best to do a bit run your tank be happy then change the next thing if you want to, Im not sure where you are but we have a tank meet in Manchester twice a month you more than welcome to come see please PM me if you want anymore info

Re: WSN t34/85 upgrades
Here! Here! Nick!
I have 2 WSN and a third one under construction. I totally agree. When I first got them a year ago I thought well, I'll run them till the gear goes and worry about replacing them then. Well I have run them pretty hard and the only issue I had was I stripped one outside gear on the shaft but nothing a little 2 part epoxy didn't fix right up and in fact it runs even better now! I was running through some coarse sand a a small stone jammed in the drive wheel and track. I also agree that the metal tracks would really add nothing to the performance that I can see. Do they run through everything like my KT with 480's and walterson gearboxes? No but they are good battlers and I did win a couple of fights last summer. And best of all you can find them pretty cheap and the upgrade clark electronics and a servo recoil won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Re: WSN t34/85 upgrades
Yes you can rob.... just add up the battery voltages ...purchase a suitable NihD or LIPO....charger...a set of Deans or Tamiya ends ... and you should be good to gorobs5230 wrote:looks like i will just run a as is for the minute. thanks very much for the input. one last thought , can i upgrade from single aa batteries to a pack on this tank ?

You will have to either cut out your current battery box... or mount the battery internal
