Buying paint in the UK.

Post by Woz »

Somebody on a Warhammer forum has pointed out a new Royal Mail restriction on water based paints that may effect some people on here when you're buying paints online.

It may be a good idea to let whoever you buy paints from know about this. One guy had his order destroyed for exceeding the limit.

"Water-based paints, wood varnishes and enamels-

The items must be securely closed and placed in a leak-proof liner, such as a sealed polythene bag, so that any inadvertent leakage is contained within the outer packaging. Surround with absorbent material such as newspaper and sufficient cushioning material to protect each item from damage. Volume per item should not exceed 150ml. No more than four items can be sent in any one package. The sender’s name and return address must be clearly visible on the outer packaging."

The full list of restrictions is here-

Last few times I've posted stuff I've been asked what's in the parcel and is there any batteries.

Okay I get it I can't send batteries in the post. But everyone else still does even companies like Amazon which I'm sure should know the rules.

I think they're just trying to cover themselves if anything you send damages other parcels.

So if you send paint and it leaks out onto someone's £5000 dress then the company won't be liable and you'd get the bill because you sent a prohibited item.

Same with batteries leaking or catching fire.
