I don't even remember the very first model I built...all I remember ...that by todays standard it was really cheap....50 cents and it went home with me five cent tube of glue and all ... as regulations of model glue had not yet been restricted...testors paint cost a nickel... and was actually stamped on the cap from the factoryPanther Ausf G wrote:rayzzer the days of real modelling.
Aaaah the smell of balsa cement, dope, home brew diesel fuel.
The first model I made without help was a 30" wingspan glider, Frog Fairy that was back in 1948.![]()

I think it might have been the LINDBERG LINE KOMET... the one with the plastic fire trail

Those sure were the days

Hey Ray.... I think ebay is your best bet for the video... unless you are into downloading... as there are a lot of fan sites you can get the video from...if your daughter enjoys illustrating .. that manga wouldn't be a bad purchase for her... only problem... in general they are all in Japanese lolrayzzer-b wrote:HI" mike yep the good old daysALPHA wrote:I don't even remember the very first model I built...all I remember ...that by todays standard it was really cheap....50 cents and it went home with me five cent tube of glue and all ... as regulations of model glue had not yet been restricted...testors paint cost a nickel... and was actually stamped on the cap from the factoryPanther Ausf G wrote:rayzzer the days of real modelling.

ALPHA'' out about the shops today no look on the dvd so will have to go on line ,,, see this though ''lol '
Now speaking of the good old days of modelling... this is one of my favorites... it used to always disappear because it was so small... too bad HAWK went out of business before I got into model railroading... it would have been perfect for a flatcar load
I used to put all kinds of stuff on my trains lol.... used to freak the club members out... because most of them were into normal freight or passenger cars... I still remember when I used a two HO steam saddle back switchers dressed out like German engines..to pull the HASEGAWA ANZIO ANNIE and the MORSER KARL around the club layout

they were slightly out of scale... but I still ran them... changed the trucks and wheels ...the funny part was that that's when I was into weathering ... so the guns were fully weathered ... but my engines were always sparkling clean

good times for sure

Yup I remember those motors...powered by a single AA battery... all you had to do was flick it and it would go...rayzzer-b wrote:memories ,, thay made a motor that turned the propellers great when you think it back in sixties seventies '' ray

I like that I've found RC tankery...it's different but the same... I guess the reward is watching your tank move... as I do feel it was the reason I stopped building models at one point... I got tired of "static" models... even RC Airplanes.. Cars.. Boats..and Helicopters"...all have at least one major aspect about them that makes them not "practical" for me

another "positive" aspect is now...with RC tankery.. I can combine.. two genres into one.... and put anime figures in my model tanks

And yes ... everyone needs to follow their own drummer...if not for anything else... to be an individual

Have a good one Ray
