Re: Heng Long Sherman
Good Morning,
Thanks for the link to the excellent write up, Tankbear. ;o) That will be very helpful as I think I am getting to the point where having sounds ala' Heng Long has lost enough of it's luster to where I can sample other types of electronic gear. Doc, I did only paint the bottom lip but the over coat I used (and the too red paint ) smeared it and ruined the look. That along with trying to dirty up the face only made it look like I hadn't painted it at all. I'm going back to an earlier style which used only a thin black line to define the mouth. Alpha, thank you also. The RX boards i have do work fine, the sounds "and emulations", to borrow their terminology are great but every tank sounds the same.
regards,
Painless

Some more detailing, I used train sign plastic numbers, very fiddly to glue into place as the small numbers are about 3mm and with super glue you don’t get a lot of time before it goes off. I painted weathered, then ran a pencil over them.

Tsk Tsk... So much rust...Phil your crews need a little discipline ....

Another update, swopped out the electrics for an IBU2 Pro and added a fantastic TPA unit which is a twin channel (6W+6W) audio amplifier allowing the use of two speakers, one channel is dedicated to play the engine sound and the other to play all the sound effects. Both channels have a separate volume control for fine level adjustment.

A few more details have been added to my Sherman, Pictures later!

My Sherman is just about finished, added some resin sandbags, Larger Mato road wheels, 50 cal in the ammo box, detailed the hatch lid, lens for search light, towing hooks at the front, map and tracks attached to the turret

next up is my Panther!

What a great job Phil.... if I didn't know any better... I'd say your Sherman was made of real steel
... love that rust treatment... not to much not too little but just right
don't see how you got your speaker to sit where it is... I had problems with mine hitting the turret rotation motor..it's kind of the one thing that was tricky about the Sherman...it's lack of internal space....in any case... beautiful job

Thank you Alfa
The speaker sat down the side of the battery as you can see, it cleared the BB gearbox even with the barrel at the highest point. I didn't put it a box because in that position the chassis acts as a speaker box in its self. Got the speaker from Tankbear (Ian).

Phil,
Welcome back, my Friend. Now _that_ is a Sherman. ;o) I'm taking a tip from you and going with the IBU2 for the next build. Ah!, Finally the Panther. I've been on the edge of my seat waiting to see what you would do with that one. *bows*
warm regards,
Painless

I gotta give it up for this Shermaholic.........amazing realism and attention to detail. Can you snap one pic in B&M so we can revere it more.
