I don't know if Taigen is Taiwanese for Heng Long. It is possible I suppose since the Taigen tanks all seem to use the Heng Long molds but also have upgrades and features not offered on the HL tanks, such as Asiatam lower hulls, metal odd and ends and hand airbrushed paintjobs, etc. Everything being said, I'd still love to have one of those Torro High-End KV-2's.

So true painless...with that said... it does explain the slightly higher cost of the Taigen
but setting all relativity aside.... I too have the Kv 2 on my wish list...I just have too many projects on the table right now

Have a great weekend MIGHTY PAINLESS WOLF

I am easy either way I do have both ,sit them side by side you do see big differences ,the torro will cope with grass much better than hl even with my hl with taigan top and turret still think torro has the edge big difference in turret is the first thing you notice but the electrics are toyish even compared to hl, so get one of each wot wot

Throwing my ten penneth worth into the ring. Ive six wsn Tigers I cant understand why anyone would want a Heng long by comparison. Firstly accuracy..... the wheels and rubber tyres are correct unlike the HL with its dodgy double width wheels, the upper hull again more accurate representation and the turret rotates on the correct axis ....the detail is brilliant now having said that there are many fine modellers who have turned their Heng Longs into really nice Tiger models ......Now having upset everyone I don't use them straight from the box I strip them add zimm and extra detail grills etc etc etc. I rip out the electronics and put in either an SLU a Clarke Board or a new IBU, why ... well for the exact reason mentioned.. the controls are toy like, main gun and machine gun etc etc I agree with it all, but then again the HL is not much better. So by upgrading the electronics im battling with Tamiyas on the same level and have so much better sound files for the entire range of in tank functions... Now I bought 4 WSN Tigers for £50 each a clark board runs about £70 an Orange receiver £12 so im on Tamiya Tiger 1 level for £132.... Ive just put metal tracks on my oldest tank after two years id worn the others smooth they hadn't broken but just wore down, as for gear boxes ive had no problems whatsoever they run on very small motors and are steady performers on 7.2 v but for that little extra vu vu voom run them on 8.4v. As an aside the clark board just swaps straight over with any HL tank as the plugs match up so its an easy upgrade for newbies Oh I also have a HL Jagdpanther converted and a HL Sherman with a mako board in, a HL Pershing converted with an IBU and a new T34 for my son so im not anti HL in just anti woefully inaccurate tank models lol

I have followed this topic from the start and I have had to work hard not to burst out laughing, Canned heat started it and titled the thing TORRO TIGER 1 unfortunately he included a photograph of a WSN Tiger 1 and so we lurched on and a page later it has nothing to do with Torro Tigers but the ever present Heng Long Tiger 1, fun though and I learnt stuff as well. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

They certainly are, I have been a proud owner of one for a little while, What I like is that any upgrade for the Heng Long Tiger fits just fine except because it is a better build it doesn't need so much work. shaun
