scalawag thank you ! you were spot on with your suggestion, managed to put on one track and it is just as you mentioned, touches the second road wheel in from the sprocket.
Having trouble with the other track, cant pull the pin out to remove one link so its soaking in WD 40 overnight will get it done tomorrow for sure. Here's a pic with the one track on only sure makes a difference..

Glad to be of help 8).

The track tension looks good to me. If you compare your tank with the picture Alpha posted they look very similar. That picture shows a tank with the later steel wheels which don't have the 4 outside road wheels which your early type has, and transit tracks which is why they look a little different/narrower, but the tension is the same.

I like the paint job too, looking good.

The track pins will only push out one way. If I remember rightly you need to push the pin from the outside of the track, so that if it was on the tank the pin would be pushed towards the middle of the tank. The pins have a knurled end which prevents them from being pushed out the other way.

I have never had one so tight that it could not be moved by pushing it with an awl or at most having to give the awl a little tap with a small hammer to free the pin up. I push them through until there is enough pin to grab with a pair of pliers and then pull them out the rest of the way.

Diesel I don't want to teach an old dog to suck eggs, but you do know that one end of a track pin is broader than the other end, for people reading this who have never separated a track you place the thin end of a spare track pin against the thin end of the in situ track pin and give a sharp tap on the end, using pliars pull the in situ pin free. Sorry if you have done all that and wish smart a**es like me would go away. shaun

Thank you scalawag and Shaun, yes i have separated the plastic tracks before, they also have a steel pin the same as you described and that came apart easily yet these metal tracks are a bu$tard to pull the pins out ,as soon as i had enough to grab hold with the pliers i tried to pull it out but still wouldn't budge so ended up hammering in another spare pin to get the other out.

Shaun a smart ar#e like you help a lot of people like me and its appreciated, don't ever go away. Thank you. Diesel

Hello scalawag.. yes I'm a bit embarrassed by the photo I provided :{ :{ ... the main idea was to show the difference in height ....I noticed the difference in the sprocket and road wheels .... but I just left it there because it had a good perspective of the tracks

anyway it looks like the problem got solved.... that's the main idea... and reason I enjoy this board :D ...

Got the pin out, though it was still tight.Cleaned up both ends of the tracks where the pin drops down and when i rejoined the track after taking the link out the pin went in smoothly .
Took the tiger out for a test run in the backyard and all went well, now waiting on decals to arrive..
