My latest project. Arguably the best "Sherman" in WWII. Heng Long M4A3 lower and upper hull, Nick Aguilar M36 turret, Clark Tk20 Sherman Board, Tamiya Pershing metal barrel and muzzle brake with servo recoil. Not much detailing yet, just a fresh coat of paint for now.

That is a real beauty! Excellent job on showing the breech and still having a recoil mechanism set up to 'fire' the main gun.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Nick's kit is actually "recoil" ready. Its just a matter of finding the right spot to hide the servo, and also drill out the recuporator pistons. My only issue was that the recoil distance is too great so I couldn't really mount the breech guard properly. I just ended up gluing it to the breech block. Looks the part when it is not firing anyway !

Just as an aside, breech guard is suppose to keep out crews/things from getting in the way of recoiling breech block when the main gun fires, correct ? So in theory it should go as far as the gun will recoil, no ?

I believe that the breach guard is stationary and the breach only recoils within it's perimeter to protect the crew.

The Breach Guard would be as long as the 'throw' on the breach when it is active ( full recoil and dropping the shell casing ) I really like the meticulous work you did on your 'Jackson'. I had the chance to pick up a resin kit of a Jumbo and drop it onto a Mato Sherman hull but passed while considering the work needed to mount a recoil mechanism inside the turret. You have done the work and have it right out in the open when it can be seen. Once again, bravo!

Thanks guys for the breech guard information. I figure that as much. This is actually a practice and I am working up the courage to start on the next one - rhino with the open compartment and again hidden servo recoil. Got the kit from Christian Juckenburg. My plan was originally to take his Hummel and convert it to a rhino, but when I start talking to Christian he told me he has the mold for the rhino as well.

Plan is to integrate a Tamiya KT barrel into the Juckenburg 88mm kit. Will post pics to share for sure.
