Japanese Tiger

Post by strontydog75 »

Hi guys, dont know if anyone has built one but i have an idea for a what if? Tiger 1.
i saw a picture of several Japanese army officers being driven and shown around a Tiger and think this was when the Germans were thinking about selling the tanks to the Japanese.
I think this would make a unique and visually stunning Tiger all painted up in Japanese Camo and markings what do you guys think? thanks Ian/Strontydog75.
hmmm tanks......

From what I understand, the Tiger I was No. 250455, and was sold by Henschel on 23 Nov. 1942 to Showa Tsusho Kaishu Ltd. for 645,000 Reichmarks. With no way to get it back to Japan, it was "donated" back to the Germans, and ended up in sSS PzAbt. 101 in Normandy. (There was a Panther, also).

Whether historically correct or not, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to paint it up in a Japanese tank color scheme (like Henschel might have done, to try and please the customer), and the final owners just left it that way. -Mike
