Tank novice hoping to get up and running

Hi everyone,

I have just purchased a r/c tank at a boot sale and upon searching the net hoped you guys would be able to help. I have always liked my r/c's and have a Traxxas Slash that is great fun, this was a bit of an impulse buy and I love it, but have a few issues.

There is no instruction book and would like to have full details on maintenance etc, anywhere I can download a PDF? Also I can't get it to fire at the mo, occasionally spits out a bb a couple of inches, but obviously not the desired effect, any ideas?

Appreciate all tips and advice and look forward to enjoying this new experience

Without knowing how old the tank is... it's really hard to determine why your gun is malfunctioning.... but... I have found in most cases it is because the inner (aluminum ) barrel has detached from the mechanism ... and slipped out of the rubber bucking

Just like airsoft guns... there is a rubber slipped on to the end of the barrel to control the feed of the bb... if any play develops ... it will effect the release or firing of the bb

inside the gun unit... there is a molded pin...most time it shears off... (not really a bad thing) ....but will cause the effect that you are getting...to fix it you will have to remove the turret... loosen the mantlet ...take off the two retaining screws on the side of the mechanism ..and pull the gun out... if the rubber comes out along with it good.. if not ...it's not a problem....you can still re-seat the rubber while it's in the gun....there will be a hole where the locking pin that usually holds the barrel in place... plug it....make sure the barrel is clear before reinstalling it... you can test it by rolling a bb down the barrel

Now here's the tricky part... you can either get a pair of tweezers and pull the rubber out of the mech... or try to re-seat it with it still in.... (50% chance of it seating perfectly )... then put some (clear elmers) glue on the end of the barrel..or "pure" silicon grease (the kind for rc cars)...don't buy the cheap stuff... the petroleum product in it will destroy the plastic... a little dab should do you... then slide the rubber back on and reverse the process of dis-assembly

There is another thing that might be at fault too... THE PISTON RING... usually just a rubber "O" ring ...it could have snapped.. slipped off the piston... or got cut ...the bore of the cylinder wall is semi nylon plastic.... so if you used non-precision bbs ...and any excess plastic came off of it and go sucked it.. it would damage not only the wall of the cylinder but the piston ring as well
Any way if the "O" ring is damaged.. just get a new one... take the broken one to an auto parts store and match it up...lube it and reinstall. if the bore is scratched...there is nothing to do but scrap the mech and get a new one

Your post is from awhile ago... maybe you fixed the problem already... but that's the process to go through should you have problems with your gun again

Reximus8 Welcome to the Forum, I love a trier, so a Walker Bulldog eh, if you look at the top right hand corner of the page you will see the SEARCH BOX, type in "walker bulldog" and you will find there are pages of references, when you find what interests you CLIK on the highlighted entry and you will be taken to the relevant article, as to the handbook I really must'nt say this but were you to find yourself on another British based forum and you scrolled down to the PDF site it is just possable that the 2 or 3 entry is the Walker Bulldog allegedly! There are even in our little world of innocent fun neer-do-wells who will try to cheat you of your hard earned, if you scroll down to the VENDORS site you will find 2 entries "BLACKLISTED" avoid them like the plague even though you will see names you know none of these people are to be trusted and "RECOMMENDED" without exception these all come with our approval, we deal with them and I would suggest if there are any goods or services to do with our hobby that you need go there first, and remember none of this should be taken too seriously or you will find yourself both broke and going round the bend, good luck. shaun

Hi rex & welcome to the forum.
As you've probably gathered
There is no pdf for heng long tanks.
Although there very easy to strip out & maintain
The instructions are only good for 2 things.
1, laughing at the 'chinglish' translation
2, wiping yer arse if your out of paper
Alpha proberbley has it nailed though.

I just wanted to put a quick message up to say thank you to you all for taking the time to give your helpful advice.
I apologise a reply has taken so long, but I have been on holiday and upon return have started a new job, which is taking all my time at the moment as I have 3 months of training to navigate. I shall certainly try your tips when I get some time and let you know how I do.
