maybach engine in resin?

After going to the trouble of fitting engine bay doors to a Panzer 4 it would be nice if there was something to see apart from the smoker that is, I cannot find anyone who makes or sells the Maybach engine or indeed any engine in 1/16 in resin, I really only want the top half, any ideas people? I imagine builders of other types of tank would like to see the engine if a model of it were available. shaun

I looked around as well and the most viable things I found were the Trumpeter models which feature full interiors. I guess if you wanted to have a whole box\model of moddable spares maybe, otherwise, really costly.

I wonder if it has got to the top of the fins on the family Cadillac, sorry I'm a child of the 50s, My thanks by the way for your kindness of the other day, most grateful, now where were we? Arr yes, Maybach engines, I have never taken a lot of interest in Trumpeters offerings,( my loss I am sure ) so until you mentioned them I had'nt given them a thought, but of course over here we have a fully functioning government so I have access to vast sums of money so I shall have a close look at what they have to offer. All is well here. We had a series of power outages yesterday which were probably cleanup related from the floods in September. Otherwise, the weather is good here in the Rockies and at their foothills where I live in the tiny town of Firestone. We do have some chilly weather coming in this weekend but that is all well and good, Halloween is in a few weeks after all. You are welcome, Sir. Good luck with Trumpeter. Hopefully, the bought and paid for Politicians who started this mess have been drubbed enough by public opinion and the surety of their Non-Re-Election by now that they will creep back under their respective rocks and let the Country go about it's business. Hi Guys,I had a quick look at the engine and honestly I don't think it would be that hard to scratch build an upper 1/2 a motor out of Styrene and some 1/2 cut tubing and such. It would be much cheaper and really more fun in the end!

In fact you have given me an idea for the L70 V kit I am going to be building. If I locate the speaker under the engine grills and put a 1/2 motor on a narrowframe on top of it the sound will bleed up and around the motor. Could be interesting...

Dean, If you start to make large sums of money out of this I shall be demanding a large licence fee with every one made, with a bit of luck I could be a multi millionaire by Friday week! Actually what it means is that I shall have to start scratch building my own Maybach engine just to save face, seeing how according to you it is so easy. THANKS A LOT FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!! shaun

LOL! Yea, we can make millions! Cost of materials maybe $10.00. Labour 20 hours x $20.00/ hour = $410.00
Retail $39.99......Ha!

I won't be starting till at least Feb. but will start to gather some specs and pics what we can find. I am thinking look at 1/48 or 1/35 and scale up....

Hallo PARTNER,Nudge nudge, After the madness of your suggestion that I could scratchbuild a top half of a Maybach engine I checked out the motor on GOOGLE and it bought me to PANZER1Vuniverse.com, not many overhead views but enough offset to get a good impression of an over the top plan, I discovered the site was on our own reference website but the URL was no longer active, SARACEN has replaced it for a current URL, it means scrolling down past the dead entry to the active one below.shaun

Ha! I found that one too and already tagged it for future reference. I haven't even begun to look through my libraries or asked the rest of the gang here and on other sites! LOL! Trick will be to find the right motor although I am not really a rivet counter so something that looks close will be fine!
