Dear Colleagues,

Introduction of my new project in cooperation with Chris 8) :
?
The Matilda was the most impressive British tank in the early years of WW II and after 3000 Matilda was built, production ended in 1943. Almost 1000 of `em were shipped to and used by the Soviet Army.
The term of the report title occured towards the end of 1940 because the Italians had no weapon who could deal with the Matilda.

First step of the project was 3D design with CAD (Inventor):

Starting to build begins with the lower hull:

After the lower hull is roughly done, the upper hull is in process:

Switching to the bogies (parts for only one bogie at the picture)…

…and the idler wheel.

First time to mount the tracks ;)

Love the Bogies! (not to be confused with something less attractive :haha: ). Love the build. Though the Matilda was slow and undergunned-later in the war-it had terrific armour, as the DAK tankers discovered when using captured examples. The Russians also applauded the protection it offered.
Here's a picture of a prototype: a Matilda fitted with a 6-Pounder Cromwell turret: :O
One off Matilda..

This is a wonderful looking and highly engineered tank

Big fan of the suspension design and the exhaust system pipes!

Keep up the great work

Spectacular work, Freddy! You and Chris did extremely well with the Valentine, and it looks like you'll surpass it here.

There really isn't enough British armour or early-war armour available, I'm glad you guys are addressing that.

Absolutely awesome and incredibly detailed work! The suspension in particular is micro-engineering at it's very very best. I'm gobsmacked! (sorry - Yorkshire idiom but there's no other word that fits).

Thanks guys for your amazing Feedback

@43rdRecceReg, that’s a very good idea! In fact that the Cromwell (turret) is available from Chris, this would be a possible variant too ;-)

@Raminator, the Valentine was the first overall scratch built tank I designed, so I had to learn a lot about improvement for production use. After the Centurion and the Matilda, the prototype of the M48 is coming up, while I’m designing currently a Japanese Type 97 Shinhoto Chi-Ha :P

That is very nice indeed. I really like the Matilda and when it's available this will be very high on my wish list.
