Jagdpanther Build

Post by Pcomm1 »

This is my Jagdanther and the build started December 26, 2007 and it was up and running in Feb 2008. The tweaking and improvements including the addition of the Daryl Turner Metal Trunnion; deleting the clutch gears for solid gears in both the traverse and elevation units continued right through to this summer. The initial build included the Impact Glacis Sprocket Guides, Impact Tracks, a Daryl Turner gear box mount brace and 2 metal elevation arms. The tank is a backyard runner with a TBU. The emitter is in the barrel. The images are a pictorial guide of how the build progressed. Enjoy

The plastic parts, while well designed lose there "snap" over time and the metal Daryl Turner parts restore smooth, positive, traverse operation. Expensive though, I trade a semi-modified HL Pz3 for the parts. LOL.

I use this "blue gear" part in both the turret rotation unit and the traverse unit in the Tamiya Jagd. The solid gears greatly improve function over the black slipping clutch gear: Tamiya part number 72005.

;) Think again bro, all will fit very nicely: cremation. Visit here: http://www.rosehills.com/prodnsrvContent/Cremations.aspx

I enjoy sharing the learning curve discovered in assembling these fun kits.

Question for 007, did you get that 200 grand Aston Martin started yet? ;D

Take care, John

Thank you and everyone else too. You know Sax that is a cool name: Saxondog. I should have considered saracen pig or Spanish Fly (LOL) for this forum. Perhaps spartan dog could have worked too. :D

That really is very nice.
I like the paint, the darker shades seem to suit it better I think.
Very nice weathering effects too.
