New 3D printer.

Post by Woz »

After a few days faffing and two failed test prints I got my printer working-

28mm test Rook

Even the writing on the top came out.

Then decided to try one of my models for a 2nd test print. 1/16 scale Vickers HMG (about 71 mm long).

Bloody amazing for a printer that cost a little over £400 ($500) including shipping from China (though I did get hit with £36 import duty). Still my first printer cost £800 three years ago.

That gun is 'very' impressive, printing that sort of thing is notoriously difficult. I assume its ABS, but which printer is it?

Whoa! They have come a long way and dropped in price dramatically since they first appeared. How long did it take to produce the gun??

The Gun took 64 min's. Best part is that because it prints the whole layer at once I can fill the build plate (about 6 Vickers) and it'll still only take 64 min's.

Sorry for so many questions, but is the resin as strong as PLA/ABS etc?

I've not stressed tested it but I'd say stronger.

It's like car body filler when cured. You can get different types of resin so softer then others.

Once I have it all set up properly* I'm going to try some more Pz I / II tracks.

*At the moment I have to have it hooked up to my PC to print and cant do anything with the PC doing a print incase it cause an error but They can run off a Raspberry Pi and the files are transffered with Wi Fi.

Very impressive, and available on Amazon. Is this firing the beam into a resin bath? If so how reusable is the resin, and what's the lifespan like?
