I think it is simply a drain to allow water to drain away from the hatch. The kits also miss the drain holes at the armor surrounds at the fuel and coolant caps and the rear corners of the lip that protects the turret to hull joint.

The travel lock looks to be at the same level on the HL and Tamiya hulls. I do know there are some changes depending on what gun and which turret was used and on at least one (many photos of the cast hull M4A1) not installed/used at all.

:) attached photo of my realization :thumbup: is it maybe sanded a little hard? in reality on the Tam? looks more like an extension of the molding around the hatch, than a chuté :O .think that's going to stay that way...
