Noisy turret fix
Good evening:
My Taigen Tiger I turret rotated well, with 1 problem. It rotated quietly one way, but made a lot of noise going in the opposite direction.
If you're experiencing the same problem try moving the motor's worm gear further out on its shaft. You want the worm gear to fully cover the spur gear it meshes with.
After taking the gearbox apart many times to grease and shim the gears with no results, I noticed the worm gear wasn't fully covering the teeth on the crown gear. After sliding the worm gear further away from the motor the turret now quietly rotates in both directions.
It worked for me.
Regards.
Frank

Re: Noisy turret fix
Excellent finding there Frank.
I know exactly what you mean about quiet one way but noisy the other as all mine are the same, so will be do this simple modification.
Maybe ask one of the moderators to move it to the tips section for easy finding I the future.
Ian.

Re: Noisy turret fix
Changing this to a sticky as it seems to be a very easy fix for a problem that most of us haven't a clue how to solve.

Masterclass, a solution that works and is free, all that is required is your time.
It doesn't get any better than this.

Re: Noisy turret fix
If you're after a quicker turret speed, swap the motor for a black ended one from a BB unit while you're at it..
remember...it's just a plastic tank...
Re: Noisy turret fix
I’m new to working on the inside of these tanks and noticed I’m experiencing this very problem. Exactly where is the motor's worm gear! Is it inside the smaller black box that turns the large gears on the turret?
Thanks
