Heng Long Proportional Smoker Wiring.

I just purchased a pair of Heng Long proportional smoke units for use in my Firefly project. I may have ruined one when I went to test it today. I also own two of the smokers that are non-proportional that I simply applied 7.2V to and they function. I applied direct battery power to the proportional unit and a little smoke came from the reservior/ smoke chanber, but the pump motor didn't move and the PC board on the smoker felt hot. Are the proportional units supposed to be wired to the motor directly?
If anyone could shed some light I'd be appreciative.

Yes, you need to wire it to the motors..

I am using this in a Tamiya tank. The power lead that would go to the Heng Long RX unit doesn't list the voltage. Does it run on 7.2V and the engine connections control the speed of the motor itself? Thank you so much for responding.

Lately ; I made my smoke units "Plug&Play" ; for ease of maintenance ... :D :D

I won't be using the Heng Leng unit because I built from the Tamiya Sherman kit. I needed to know if the lead that plugs into the RX board runs at 7.2 volts.

Yes they do ...
To be more accurate , the voltage at the smoke unit terminal of the RX-18 is (7.2V - 0.7 V) = 6.5 VOLTS ; because of the voltage drop caused by the transistor ( on the RX-18) powering the smoke unit ....

I wonder if it would be safe to just run the 7.5V from the pack, or should I go to the trouble to use a resitor to drop the voltage? I went 7.2 and directly powered up the non-proporional units and had no issue.
