tamiya kingtiger turret problem

I have been having problems with my kingtiger turret but any thing I look at that shows how to fix the problem involves glueing the cluch gear or removing it altogether and I dont want to do this because my baby brother likes to pull the gun causing the turret to turn slightly and without the cluch gear damage would be caused. I know that no wires are fouling the rotation unit but it refuses to rotate, I get a few mm then a clicking noise with I think is the cluch engaging, any help will be very appreciated.

Thanks jack

Sounds like the teeth on the clutch are toast. Cut out your baby bothers kiddney, sell it, and buy a new turret gear motor set. Tell your bb that if he messes with your tank any more you will take his last kiddney........ >:< ......Check the gear mesh with the hull off and turning the turret, sometimes the gear box gets a little out of wack....you could try to take the whole mess apart and cleaning up the teeth with a knife but it sounds like its on the way out :(

Hey Mate the clutch gears arent overly strong and weaken after some use causing the slightest obstruction to stop the turret turning and you just hear the clutch clicking away. Now if all your wires are ok inside and not getting caught or what ever then you can bet the clutch gear is stuffed so then go buy yourself the tamiya 6 speed gearbox - http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.p ... t-id=72005
and use the Blue clutch gear out of the kit and that will solve your problems as thats what I am about to do to mine and all the guys in my club have done it to there's..

Hope this helps,

Ken

I agree the clutch weakens with time and will be the culprit but be warned - i modified mine and burned out the DMD transistor. A more radical approach I took with my KT was to replace the whole gear with the Heng Long ring and gear - works a treat all the time.
