Taigen Tigers

Thought I'd stick up a few pictures of my Taigen tigers. I've just had them out in the yard for abit of a run to see how the tank riders looked (they still need weathering work done). I dont have an airbrush, so both tanks are brush painted. Neither tank is 100% complete yet, the running gear on the whitewashed tiger needs finishing off, as do the numbers and markings. The other one needs a few other bits doing before it's done, you might have also noticed it's running without an idler on the left hand side, I was gonna fix that but I'm starting to quite like it, although I have no idea if a real tank could run without an idler, any ideas?.

For a pair of work in progress tanks, and given that I only just got into the hobby and dont have much gear except for 2 brushes and a few pots of paint, I'm pretty happy with them so far.

Any feedback welcomed, even if it's negative. I'm here to learn afterall.

Cheers....Phil

You need an idler wheel, otherwise track tension is lost and those tracks would be thrown and left behind on the Russian Steppe! Great looking tanks and additions though.

Those look awesome indeed..

What electronics do you have inside? If still stock you might wanna look at the new Taigen electronics that offers better ride, better sound and 2.4Ghz remote for not to much money.. See this topic: http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... f=1&t=9738

Best would be a Elmod system offcourse.. That's a lot more expensive, but I think awesome looking tanks like that deserve it.. 8)

As above with the Idler wheel.
It is a minefield getting all the correct mods done for the correct early, mid or late Tiger VIs.
In many cases who is to say what is correct and what is not. (Apart from the glaringly obvious).
Directives were given to units to do field mods but individual commanders chose to do these at their own discretion.
Refits in depot were only done with available parts and camo was ultimately down to what paint was available.
Nice work.
Any Tiger I projects win my vote.

Great looking Tigers mate! Like the battlefield repair to solve the rear idler problem, shortening the track by removing a few links and replacing, could only be used as a last resort for short trips but is still used for recovering AFVs today.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I thought that maybe shortening the track when a rear idler was blown off would have been a way of getting the tank moving for a quick recovery, but I wasn't sure. I plan on putting the links I took out somewhere on the tank along with a few tools lying around. The idler seems to have completely sheered off of the bar that goes through the track adjusters so it isn't a quick fix, but it runs fine so I plan on leaving it for now. I'll post another pic up once they're finished.

That's definitely a mod I'll be doing, I especially like the sound of better low speed control. Just waiting for welsh dragon to get them in stock and I'll probably do both of my tigers. Cheers mate

If it wasn't for my Beier USM-HL soundmodule not being compatible with the new Taigen board (because there is no seperate receiverboard anymore which the Beier module needs to connect to) I would upgrade to it aswell most likely.. By far the most affordable option..

problem for me is I do not want to lose the much better sound and ability to use your own custom sounds with the seperate soundmodule.. So only option for me to improve my tank with much better ride, a 2.4Ghz remote and keep the much better custom sound would be a Elmod conversion.. Way more expensive as the 2 Elmod modules required alone are over 200 euro's already.. I will probably go that route anyway as I want my tank to have the best drive possible outdoors aswell and dump the crappy 27Mhz..
