Aerial/Controller range

I have just changed the aerial/antennae on my Torro KT for the correct one from WelshDragon. Is the range still the same or is it less/more?

Hi Shane Wolfe,
It should be the same unless the aerials are a dramatically different length. It might be worth checking that the coil-spring end of the aerial is a nice tight fit over the brass stub on the tank and also that its brass stub is not painted over or this will seriously reduce your range. On the inside of the tank just make sure that the black wire leading from the inside of the brass Aerial mounting stub is actually connected to the black wire that leads to the receiver board. It is very easy to pull this connector apart when you have the hull off and very difficult to spot once it is.
Alb.

Cheers Alb. The connecting wires I re-soldered so hopefully they should be okay. Have gone for a quick test drive and not noticed any difference at the moment. I just wondered if there was a distance when it would be out of range! Thanks for your help and input. Shane.

The poor 27Mhz setup is another reason for me to upgrade to Elmod and a 2.4Ghz remote/receiver for my Torro KT.. Much much better range, no more interference and you do not even need an arial..
I'll still keep the proper Tiger antenna on offcourse..

Their are options available to drop the HL receiver board and move to a 2.4ghz radio system. Sometimes it resolves some of HL quirky behaviour too.

I've seen the HL 2.4Ghz adapters, but instead I'll just spend some extra cash and go for a total Elmod conversion.. That will solve all my ride, control and sound issues in 1 go..
